“Well... I suppose I can cross that off my bucket list.”
As the festival finally comes to a close on it’s last day, the most awaited event takes place. A floral background takes center stage in the Fairy Ring. A runway decorated with different types of flowers had been made especially for the occasion. Hours and hours of work had went into making sure that everything was perfect. Bright lights on the right and left side illuminate the runway along with one special circular platform that Marinette stands on, microphone in her hand. She looks confident, ready to speak when her cue is given. As people begin to slowly gather around and wait for the long awaited Fashion Show they were promised, Marinette clears her throat and begins to speak. ❝ Welcome to Hive City’s first ever fashion show! I won’t talk for long, but I’d like to thank Ava for allowing me the chance to do this! It’s always been my dream to be able to host something like this, so it’s a huge honor. It’s not about me tonight, though! ❞ she pauses, and the spotlight goes to center stage, where the curtains hide the awaiting models who were to walk out at any time. ❝ Tonight is about our lovely models! I’m proud of all of them, they worked hard to create something that was all their own just to strut their stuff tonight…so let’s get started, shall we? ❞

“…I have a theme.” He responded to her ‘adorable’ comment.
After they’d lowered down, he released her into the passenger’s seat. Once he’d sat down, the sensors in the car read that he was in, sliding the roof shut and sealing it. “I’d suggest strapping in.” He said, fingers moving to press buttons with practiced precision.
“Sir? Who are you talking to?” Alfred inquired.
“I’m bringing a guest.”
“I’ll fix some tea.”
He almost told him it wouldn’t be necessary but with a brief glance at the woman, he could tell she was rather shellshocked by the sudden change in scenery. So he said nothing in response. Tea might be good for her. Or perhaps she’d need something stronger. The windows of the batmobile tinted so that nothing could be seen outside of the vehicle. Sliding his fingers across one of the screens on the console, he engaged the autopilot. He spared a brief glance to her to ensure that she was strapped in before he placed his hand on the throttle…and gave it a push.
There was a foreboding whirring sound and then a mighty roar of the engine and the vehicle suddenly jerked forward. Unceasing was the speed, slowing down only slightly when there was a turn. But he remained completely calm, lips a neutral frown as he focused upon the screens in front of him.
“Everything will be fine.” He reassured her, “If it turns out we’re stuck here… I know some people who are attuned to magic. They might be able to find a way to get you home.”
He was sure that someone could open a portal to her realm and send her home. He knew that she wouldn’t want to stay here and, honestly, he wouldn’t want her to have to stay in Gotham. He wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Not the way it was now. It was his city… but it was a city with too many problems. And it wasn’t long before the sound of heavy water beating against the roof of the vehicle could be heard and the echoing sound of a cave.
When the vehicle came to a stop, the ceiling slid open to reveal a massive cave. Upon the roof were thousands of bats perched upside down, occasionally flitting about in the commotion of him returning home. Bruce hopped out of the vehicle, moving briskly to the massive computer system displayed on a circular platform which protruded from the water in the cave. Alfred moved to the car the moment he’d pulled in, offering a hand for Ultear. “Greetings, miss. I’ve prepared some tea. Erm… might I inquire how you two are… acquainted?” Alfred motioned toward a table up near the computer platform where a pot of hot tea sat with cups and some biscuits.
Bruce, naturally, was disappointed when he arrived at the computer to see that no results had come up for Hive City. He shouldn’t have been surprised, of course. “No results.” He said aloud, as though to confirm his disappointment. He’d clearly ignored the fact that there was some kind of sustenance present in the room to keep him fueled.
This car was defiantly not something that was back in Earthland, never mind Fiore or any other region she had been back home. She looks about the vehicle with curious eyes as it seems to be working with little effort from Batman. Another voice comes from the vehicle while she takes Batman’s suggestion and straps herself into her seat. She can feel the power underneath her, and it surprisingly amazed her.
“So, quest set of rules.” She speaks under her breath. The windows suddenly grow dark, and Ultear can only give a sigh. Ultear was beginning to believe Batman was a bit into overkill.
“Don’t make promises you can not keep, darling.” They were silent the rest of the ride. The car eventually stops, and the hood removes itself to reveal a rather large cavern with high end technology and weapons scattered about. An older man, wearing a butler’s guise, holds out his hand to her. She takes it as she removes herself from the car, and out of the corner of her eye sees Batman already at his giant monitor.
“Oh, by pure accident and circumstance. Maybe he just likes me. Who knows?” Ultear grabs a cup of tea before she moves to lean against the desk Batman sits at.
“I didn’t think there would be any information considering you forget everything when they return you. I would make a note somewhere to remind you just in case. Also, can you explain to me how you came about having your own cave, because this is just overdoing it.” Ultear says this before the butler comes to join them, sipping her tea and giving a smile.
“This tea is very good, my dear. Ultear Milkovich. Now, I have a few possible ideas what is to happen next, but I suppose my next move depends on if and how the pair of you are going to help me.”

Unfortunately for Archer, alcohol could no longer cloak his brain in its numbing embrace. Such was the fate of a Heroic Spirit, though he had never been a great fan of liquor in the first place. He was, however, a great fan of what often happened around liquor.
He was here–tonight, here was a particular bar in Sector 4–for that specific reason. He was certain that he’d find some form of entertainment here. True, entertaining himself was exactly what Archer had been doing ever since his arrival in the city, but this was the first night he’d spend in a place like this.
It didn’t take long before he found someone–he spotted a particularly statuesque woman at the other end of the bar. Her clothes–as flattering as they were strange–marked her as a a fellow victim of the scientists and their mad experiment.
Archer slipped past the throngs of people to find a place beside the woman–not-so-subtly brushing his shoulder against hers in the process. He quietly noted the drink in her hand–something a tad stronger than the piss-water ‘craft beer’ that everyone else in the bar seemed to favor–which only reinforced his good first impression of her.
“Evening. Sorry to intrude, but d’you mind if I ask you a question?”
There had once been a time were Ultear had looked down on going to such a small, but crowded cheap bar. At one point it had been beneath her as she had the power and accessibility to almost anywhere she wished to go. Then her life flipped, and she found herself with very little. Still, for the safety of not only herself but her two other companions she kept herself away from anywhere public.
It had been an accident that she had stumbled onto a girl getting followed by some bar fly, and when he laid a hand on the poor thing Ultear had felt it necessary to step in. The girl, in tears and shaking, had been very grateful and proceeded to ask Ultear to watch over her the next time she had an outing. Ultear was, at first, resistant, but the girl persisted.
This lead to where she was in that very moment. Eyes on the girl and her group of friends as they sat beside themselves. It wasn’t what the witch had seen herself doing that night, but she could not turn away someone so scared for herself and her friends. A man approaches, the sort with a smirk that expects something to come out in his favor. She prepares herself to go through the motions.
“If you are wondering were you can acquire more green clothing, then I have no idea.”
“Sweet? Hah, perhaps on select occasions.” Usually, his charm was more than enough to make any woman swoon by his mere presence. But he’s finding it less and less of an occurrence in this city. Not that he minded, of course.
“And are these the observations of a very experienced woman? You seem like the type to know what to say already.” Indeed, she did look the part. She had a strong presence about her. Not only that, but his nature as a heroic spirit allowed him to sense her connection to magic. A magus, he wondered?
“Achilles,” he answered swiftly enough. He gestured to the bartender, to come closer. “And who do I owe the pleasure of treating a few rounds with?”
Ultear could only give a faint laugh at his own observation. Yes, she already knew what to say. When it comes to most men, it was just about going through the motions. Though she had tried to overcome her own bitterness to the cycle and tell herself not all were like this, some men seemed determined to prove her wrong. This man in particular was odd in his forward approach for simple company, but she could only say so much on first impressions.
“I simply have been approached by men in bars far too often. A few of them with wives and girlfriends they want to keep secret. But you, sir, are either very friendly or have something to hide. We will see just what it is with time.”
“You can call me Ultear. Now, I am rather fond of wine, but I’m up for suggestions as well.”

“Well, I have to keep some promises.”
It hadn’t taken him long to return. Not that he was particularly eager to take off the cowl for the night. She’d simply seemed off. Perhaps he just wanted to put her more at ease. After all, the night had been a loud one with the influx of new residents. He’d had a sort of foreboding feeling about the whole night. “Glasses? I don’t take you for the ‘passing around the bottle’ sort.” He said, holding up the bottle.
“You assume correct. At least, not with people I don’t well as much I as I seem to be spending increasingly long amounts of time with you.” Putting away her phone, Ultear reaches out and turns the bottle within his hands to see just what it was he had brought along.
“Ah, you did bring something strong. I commend you for not only being a wonderful masked crusader, but a good barman.” She pauses, leaning back on the bench as she contemplates what to say. Ultear had learned a lot more about him then he knew of her through their forced misadventure together. Yet Bruce for some reason took the breach of personal information with grace considering just what he does. Still, did she want to open up to someone she had just met? Maybe, but not completely.
“How long have you been in this city?”

“I’m not partial to taking nights off. So it’d be best if you don’t get the notion in your head that I’ll do this at the drop of a hat.”
“I’ll be back within the hour.”
“I would remind you that this was your suggestion, but if you must insist-” He escapes into the night, leaving Ultear to her thoughts. She sits on a bench as she waits, scanning the small device her captors had eventually given to her. He keeps his promise, returning the same hour he had left.
“Well, I will say one thing. You do keep your promises.”
“…I can’t give you your magic back. But I can get you a bottle of something strong.” He said softly, eyes watching her for a moment. “If you’d like, I could take the rest of the night off and we could enjoy it together. I’d just have to return home and get this suit off. Unless you’d prefer that I go stop more kids from robbing convenience stores.”
“What is this? The Batman taking the night off? Here I thought you were all work and no play!” She teases, but not in a way meant to mock or hurt.
“I would certainly appreciated the company, but don’t feel obligated to do this just because I’m having an off night. Do whatever you want to, darling.”
“I know the feeling. Do you need anything?”
“Well, giving me back my magic and a bottle of something strong would be nice.” She gives him a weak smile before waving her hand. “Go on. Don’t waste anymore time on pitiful me.”
“…Are you sure it’s not because it’s late at night?”
“It is not the sort of tired you can cure with sleep. I’ll be fine.”

The amount of joy he feels at hearing her voice again, knowing that she remembered him as well was something that he took great comfort in. In a city where almost everyone forget you when they go away, something like this could be considered a miracle of sorts. A deep sigh of relief escapes him, only for him to straighten up soon after and let go of her, letting his hand fall back to his side awkwardly. ❝ Taller? Er…just a bit perhaps– ❞ Only when she mentions the necklace does he stop for a moment, hands moving to clutch it before speaking again.
❝ Y-You’re the one who gave me this necklace? ❞ All this time he hadn’t the slightest idea of who it may have come from. To think that it had been from her the entire time, it’s a little embarrassing that he hadn’t realized it sooner. The cryptic note left with it had only served to confuse him further. Still, it’s good to finally have a peace of mind with whom it had come from now and it only makes him cherish it all the more.
❝ I wish I had known sooner…I never take it off. And I never even got to thank you properly for it since you disappeared soon after. But you’re here now so…thank you. I love it more than anything. ❞
Ultear has managed to fluster the boy, if only just a tiny bit and not on purpose. Still, she can’t help but smile as though she is pleased by it. She is extremely pleased and surprised that the boy would keep something for so long that had been anonymously given to him. Ultear was surprised he had even cared to remember her. In the end, she was not exactly someone people went out of their way to befriend or keep around and with good reason. But thinking such things discredited Allen for his kind heart, so she puts aside these thoughts quickly as he thanks her.
“I didn’t give it to you for you to thank me. You have shown me your gratitude by keeping it with you all this time. I honestly didn’t expect you to.”
“Are you free right now? We should go somewhere less crowded. If that is alright by you, I mean.”
Leave it to a so-called monster to try and make some new friends. He didn’t have much growing up– heck, he had hardly anything to his name in general. Not to say that his older brother and caretaker weren’t enough. The bounty hunting business was… A little slow as of late. Just a little. But they’ve done their best to raise him after being thrown out into the world like mere garbage.
But hey. Enough of that now. He’s too busy conjuring up small talk to even pay attention to his own thoughts.
“Huh? Oh, heh, this gritty stuff isn’t so bad! But I’ll do my best!”
“If I remember correctly, there should be mermaids or somethin’ here, yeah? You think we’ll get to see any? Maybe get a friendly hello out of one of ‘em?”
The man is overly friendly and assuming, but it is clear he means well. Ultear was not used to being approached, and especially by someone so open for conversation that did not appear to want anything in return. Still, she is wary, but she would play the part and return his kindness with a smile.
“Mermaids? But you don’t know all the legends do you?”
“I’ve heard mermaids sang out to sailors to lure them just close enough to snatch them into the water and devour them. Perhaps that is not true, but if you are willing to risk it... Are you adventurous enough to find out?”
