"Igs!" Ally comes fast walking up behind her friend, whisper shouting until she's next to her and then she talks normally. "I heard Jack's on the warpath tonight. Do you know what's up?"
"Oh, I have no clue, but if I learned anything from my drill sergeant, when they say jump, you don't even ask how high, you just keep going until they stop yelling," she shuddered. That had not been a fun time and her drill sergeant had laid into her. Kept her out in the rain until she was swallowing mud at one point.
"Don't take it to heart...whatever it is, we haven't caused it...but people sometimes act like that when they feel safe with you, because you won't leave—at least that's what I tell myself to feel better." She put a hand on Ally's shoulder and gave her a light pat.
