ă WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SO DISTASTEFUL.ă
child abuse tw && mental abuse tw
how do you live your life knowing that the people entrusted to protect and care for you had tried to sell you off to the highest bidder when you were a baby? unable to defend yourself, unable to fight back. kiba had a very stark reminder of that whenever he displeased his mother. sheâd mutter âshouldâve lowered the price when we tried selling youâ in thai every time he came home with bruises on his face or got caught for stealing. tick tock, the infamous nickname he got for himself, had stopped caring about the boy, letting him do whatever he wanted. tick tock would get into arguments with his mother, both of them possessing the same prowess and cruel tactics, and kiba would take off. only then did he learn that his mother only cared for him when his parents got along.
his father used to be a king, a crocodile king of neverland. he held the pirates in the palm of his hand, what with the captainâs intense phobia of the crocodile who ate a clock (and his hand). his father was also a siren, a shapeshifter who could wield sea magic. during their coming of age, sirens choose their favourite form and stick to it as often as they could. tick tock chose a crocodile, pim chose a mermaid. their pride in being so glorious before being banished to the isle caused them to fall into the habits of gambling and cheating. drinking and smoking. selling what they deemed expendable for some semblance of power. kiba and a mysterious twin sister were considered expendable once upon a time. the only time tick tock cared about him was the time he cared enough to chide kiba by comparing him to this sister that was much more valuable since kiba had caused nothing but trouble.
that is... until he didnât. all the times that kiba got caught stealing only taught him how to steal better. kibaâs exuberance and charisma managed to help him out of tight squeezes more often than not. he learned tricks during gambles, besting even the most stone-cold poker faces with his eccentricities. he started bringing in profit for his parents. tick tock and pim usually lost it faster than kiba could make it. but he was more than just trouble at that point. when he found out he was chosen to leave the isle and attend school in auradon, he decided it was time for one last gamble. his parents had learned to care but only because they saw with greed. so for his last trick, he swindled everything his parents loved out of their lives. he fed them to the sharksâ forcing them out of hiding to deal with the debts they owe (spoiler: it wasnât pretty). you never want to be on kibaâs bad side, heâd swipe the rug from underneath you to reveal a trap door all with a bright, cheeky smile on his face.
