Quilting Lessons

For a rainy afternoon spent sewing in a dimly lit room, surrounded by old books and hot tea. 🕯️✨

I put my heart into designing a collection for everyone who loves combining traditional crafts with a dark, moody edge. This library includes 30 unique FPP quilt blocks spanning gothic architecture, witchy apothecary potions, poison gardens, and celestial lunar cycles. They are scrap-friendly and look striking on wall hangings, jackets, or full quilts.

Six new bird FPP patterns just landed in my Etsy shop. Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Canada Goose, Barn Owl, Wild Turkey, Red-tailed Hawk.

She's done! The completed Geese on Geese quilt!

My second ever paper pieced quilt friend! Lots of learning and seam ripping during the making of him, but I'm so proud of him! The blue fabrics are vintage bed sheets I inherited from my grandma, and his antenna and feet are a really pretty velveteen gifted by a friend.

I decided I’d try and pair them up in contrasting colours and prints and make a bunch of different star blocks.

After I’ve made them, I’ll sash them and see how big the quilt gets.

Some of them didn’t work out so well because I did not pick contrasting enough fabrics, but overall I think it went well. Making each star was fun because it was always different.

And I really like some of these stars. The second row, third column is really nice. So is fourth row, first column. And the bottom right, fifth row fourth column.

I had two red fabrics that had quite a bit of fabric, but not enough for a full border on their own, so I combined them into 20-ish inch sections and sewed that around.

The brown for the cornerstones looks nice. Not too red, but not blue for sure.

Had some nice gold metallic fabric for the binding, but that was from my stash and not part of the groups of fabrics I picked up…

Doesn’t matter, looks good.

Red cuddletex on the back and I believe the quilting pattern is called Lavender. I was gonna go with bamboo, but decided no.

The other thing I finished today. With bonus cat content at the end (ignore my messy living room).

@cecilyv if you look closely you will see remnants of your wedding quilt fabric in here (I think).
