JERRY THEORY
or How I Decided to Lose All Legitimacy as an Analyst/Theorist/Writer
I come before you, a humble enjoyer, nay, fanatic of both the Undertale and Deltarune universes. I have been in the trenches, I have seen strangely racist soundcloud AUs, and I have lived through the drought between Chapter 1 and 2 of Deltarune. I downloaded Survey_Program, and thought that Omega Sans was real. I have lived, breathed, consumed, and excreted UTDR, and I plan to do so for the foreseeable future. I have nothing left to give to Toby Fox, besides more of my disposable income, and probably manual labor.
So why have I decided to come here today and proudly exclaim that fan-favorite mystery man W.D Gaster is actually Jerry, who is, by all means, whatever the opposite of a fan-favorite is. Why have I decided that today was the day that I would finally, finally lose any sense of legitimacy that I never had.
It's simple really: I am right, and you are wrong.
I am going to try to convince you that Jerry Undertale is nothing but a somber, more annoying reflection of one Doctor W.D Gaster M.D, PHD.
As the old addage goes, Gaster is green and in-between. While I will not go more in-depth in this supposition, as it has already become a common mantra and a widely accepted pattern of Gaster's, I would like to point you towards the Mystery Man's room fitting right between Sans and Papyrus' rooms in their house, and also the fact that where this theoretical door would go, there is a bone with a green background.
Now, Undertale has another character, and while he is not green, he is always, always in the middle of the battle screen.
That's right. It's Jerry. Jerry Undertale, who will always appear alongside another monster and stand in the middle. When he's in a group of three, he is very much, in-between, even if he's not green. While this might seem circumstantial, this is by no means the only piece of evidence I hold in my pants hole. I would just like to point out, while you are seeing the battle check that says "Everyone knows Jerry.", this could be seen as a foil to Gaster, as, effectively, nobody truly knows Gaster, as his existence is shrouded in mystery, and not a single character but his closest followers mention him.
EXHIBIT B: PHONE-OBSESSED
Both Jerry and Gaster are very much associated with phones. Jerry, of course, is known for always being one to complain about sucky Wi-Fi reception. He is very much the type of guy who would rather stay on the couch and look at Twitter, rather than socialize at a gathering with friends, and is thus, the Worst. This piece of characterization is so important to Jerry Undertale as a character, that his, albeit non-canon, artwork in the Undertale Tarot Card pack shows him with his phone, and the glory of his, surprisingly, non-flat ass.
Now, who else in the UTDR Universe is always on his darn phone? That's right. William Dilliam Gaster. He is obsessed.
When you try to call someone in the Dark World, who's glorious voice do you hear but the bastard's himself? Who is literally so chronically online, that he hacks an innocent dog's Twitter account, to promote his own game? Who, very likely, gives an innocent businessman advice on how to succeed and the industry, and then sticks his pack of cats on him?
WHO DO YOU THINK?!
EXHIBIT C: WING-DING DITCH
Jerry, is annoying. He is so annoying, in-fact, that the only viable solution to make him leave you alone when you don't have Snowdrake around to "cool" the room, is to ditch him. Just, get rid of the guy. (This is a good moment to mention that Jerry Undertale only appears alongside Snowdrake and Ice Cap, one enemy known for making bad puns, and another one for being extremely boastful about themselves).
Anyways, people ditch him, get rid of him, as if he was never there to begin with. Do you really need me to spell this out for you? Do you really need me to tell you, that Doctor Walter Davis Gaster was, in-essence, ditched by the whole of monsterkind? He is gone, and everything works like clockwork. He was ditched from existence! You can't even take his name!
(Artist's rendition of Awful Waffle Daffle Gaster getting "ditched" into the "Core")
By now, you are probably fully convinced, that Jerry and Gaster are parallels to each other, and thus, while Sans is the Snowdrake of the brotherly dynamic, always keeping things "fresh", and Papyrus is the more boastful and prideful one, Gaster is the annoying brother, and thus hated by everyone, except us, the Player.
