As someone who has no choice in having to be up early, this change has absolutely has killed my energy levels.
If I wake up early and sleep early, my parents view it as a problem in life skills. So not only do I have to wake up early, I need to restrict my sleeping times too or else it’s me being “irresponsible”.
After having a day of waking up at 11 AM for the first time in forever, I didn’t even need to drink coffee to keep my energy levels up. That is just how much better my natural circadian rhythm is.
It amazes me how we have it so well documented that lack of good sleep causes so many problems. I’d argue that lack of sleep within someone’s natural clock is just as bad. Forcing someone to wake up daily at 8-9 AM is about as harmful as having someone with little sleep on the job.
I wouldn’t expect an early bird to work a graveyard shift, and yet early birds expect night owls to fucking religiously follow them and then say you have poor life skills and health if you refuse to do so
