My period decided it was the perfect day to start, so dysmenorrhea and nausea were already hitting me before the run even began.

I still decided to push through and pretend everything was fine. During the run, though, I honestly had to stop every now and then just to breathe through the cramps. The hardest part was accepting that I wouldn’t be able to run at the pace I wanted or set a new PR for my 10KM.

A little disappointed, but still proud that I finished and kept going anyway.

I’m also really thankful for my friend who introduced me to fun runs. She made me realize that running can actually be enjoyable, and now I can’t stop joining them. Every event gives me something to look forward to.

Running has become a space where I can just breathe and focus on the present for a while. It helps me cope with the stress from work and reminds me that even big goals are reached one small step at a time.
