i like how viktor does not obsessively find a way to "fix" himself like so many disabled characters in shows. he doesn't feel dissatisfied with how he isāsure, being disabled puts him at a disadvantage in comparison to other able-bodied people, but he is not dejected. instead, we get to see an optimistic, passionate young man with a drive to help other people regardless of himself. viktor can so easily fall into the trope of disabled characters in media feeling helpless because of their disabilities and striving to find a cure to their "problems", but we only see him resorting to the extremes when he laments over the little time he has left, and the thought that with that little time he cannot help his people like he always wanted.
viktor spent so much time living for his people, working to better the lives of his people, sacrificing himself and his health and everything if it means that the people of zaun have a chance at a better life. even in his sickest days he still pull himself to the council to petition for independence. this man is selfless, compassionate, but also confident in himself and his intelligence and that's what makes him so iconic and dare i say, relatable.

anyway if you're interested in a different take on season 2 of arcane way back in 2021: https://archiveofourown.org/works/35322322
Hello. Yes, I would like to ask a question about Spideytorch. Or, actually about Johnny, if that's OK? In a previous post, you mention the sadness of 616 Johnny. Can you talk about that? I would like to hear all about Johnny's sadness, pls. Or, disregard if this is not concise enough a question, or not really an OTP question. Thank you.
Itās always okay to ask me Johnny questions!Ā
So like, here is a not-so-brief glance at 616 Johnnyās life, in honor of another New Comic Book Day where Johnny was in two pages and terrible things happened to him. Cut for length.

Mim would you describe Doomās obsession with Reed as one of those āvillains whoās in love with the hero and does elaborate thing to get his attentionā things. Because from the outside looking it thatās how it looks to me, but then again idk anything about Doom so wjavsjbdbd. Is Doom secretly I love with Reed????? I gotta know????
Oh yeah, I mean I personally headcanon that Doomās obsession of Reed stems from some form of love/admiration. However itās far more complicated than that imo, because in a way Doom believes that if it werenāt for Reed he would not have become Doom. This isnāt very true because even if Reed wasnāt there Victor would have still gone through with his experiment and attempted to save his mother from hell.Ā
I have to say that I have not read as many Fantastic Four comics but I do know that @traincat and @rizahmad know far more about every interaction that Doom has with Reed, but I do think that Victor would not hate Reed so much if he at one point hadnāt loved him in some way.
I think to fully grasp Reed and Victorās connection, you have to view it from both sides, because I think a great deal of what Victor feels thatās positive for Reed comes out of Reedās positive feelings for him. After all, itās Victor who saysĀ āNobody sees me. (Only Reed did.)ā
(Invincible Iron Man #597)
To get to Victor, I think you have to start with Reed, and what you have to understand about Reed is that Reed, despite being in most other ways pragmatic and in whatās so rarely discussed about him, utterly believes in the power of love, beyond all else, beyond himself.
āBecause what man is a man that doesnāt risk everything for the people he loves? I am flawed that way.ā ā FF #21
āYou see surprised that I would be willing to sacrifice myself for my family. Why?ā - New Avengers v3 #3
So you canāt start from the idea that Victor met Reed in college and fell in love with him quickly, because Victor isnāt that person. Victor, especially in his youth, is hardened by the world, angry and vindictive, and utterly prepared to lash out. He already has his armor on, so to speak. After all, when Reed tries to help with his experiment, itās an honest gesture ā but the idea of anyone being superior to him in any field, especially in his own domain, is so abhorrent to Victor that he lashes out, and thatās how the accident happens. And of course he blames Reed for it ā logically, Reed is the only person besides himself he can blame, and Doom cannot blame himself, at least, not on any surface level. But Doom harbors a great deal of hatred ā so what makes Reed special? What makes him continually worthy of tormenting, of torturing, the focal point of Doomās obsession? Doom accuses Reed of being soft and sentimental ā but is it that softness and sentimentality that Doom focuses on not because he honestly wishes to stamp it out, but because he craves those emotions focused on him?
āHe was a genius.ā - Infamous Iron Man #7, in Doomās hero phase, in what I think is one of his most honest and vulnerable moments, where he admits he misses Reed and Sue. I think itās not fair to discuss Reed and Doom without discussing them as two halves of a coin ā Claremont established this brilliantly in both his Fantastic Four run, which at one point sees Reed trapped in Doomās armor, and in his earlier Fantastic Four vs X-Men, and Waid, who I otherwise think doesnāt write the best Doom in the world, strengthened that when he had Reed use Doomās machine to reach the afterlife to save Ben. So you have this huge similarity: they both view themselves as being capable of or willing to defy everything to save the people they love the most. Reed in his worst moments behaves like Doom: arrogant, selfish, secretive, lonesome. He invades Latveria; in Doomās armor, he becomes almost possessed, behaving more and more like Doom. This is isnāt to say, though, that they have more similarities than differences. Doom is monumentally proud. Reed, despite everything, is ultimately humble. Doom is power. Reed is knowledge. And Reed is balanced out by other factors ā Sue, Ben and Johnny, his children, his work, the Fantastic Four. Doom leaves himself off-kilter by choice, because he cannot be open enough to accept help honestly, to establish a connection that might make him whole. Reed is content; Doom is longing. Reed believes that, given the circumstances, given the choice, given the opportunity, Doom can change. To be Doom, Victor has to believe that Doom is a constant. Itās a constant tug of war between Reed and Victorās beliefs.
(New Avengers v3 #14)
On some level Doom knows that Reed completes him, that together they make a perfect whole, which is why he both hates him ā and, in fantasies, models himself after him. There are a couple of alternate Doom/Sue realities born out of Victorās fantasies ā the one in Millarās run, and the one in Secret Wars (2015), but I think to view this as about Victorās desire for Sue at all is a mistake. He makes himself in Reed, he usurps Reedās position, questing for the love that Reed offers but that Victor cannot accept from him. So instead, he makes it a conquest. Take Reedās place. Take Reedās wife. Take Reedās children. (He already views himself as Valeriaās godfather and if thereās anyone heās especially soft on, itās her, not to mention that, unbeknownst to them both, Doomās adopted son Kristoff is Reedās biological half-brother.) Itās not about loving Sue. Itās about becoming Reed, and in that act of conquest being able to accept that love. Except thatās not how love works, so ultimately the act is hollow, and Victor is still unsatisfied. He wants Reedās love; he cannot accept it. But this is still a man who died for Reedās cause and Reedās family, and who is inextricably connected with them.
(FF #14)
Thereās a potential future oneshot I really like called Fantastic Four 100th Anniversary Special, which was part of a line that envisioned where series would be on their 100th anniversary, which sees Doom as part of the Fantastic Four family:
And I think itās the best path possible for him, if he was actually able to embrace that connection and lean into the family and find the acceptance and love heās clearly been craving. Because after everything, Reed is ultimately willing to forgive Doom, because they have such a connection and understand each other in ways few other people can. Itās just that Reed is, most of the time, the only one who can admit that.
(Fantastic Four #562 ā it was a Sue from a far flung future who used Doom, Johnny, and Galactus as a power battery that Doom killed, for context. If you want to talk character similarities, Sue and Doom are both far more ruthless than Reed.)
no because you absolutely have to watch HARROW if you like ioan gruffudd or reed richards; he is so good as reed richards-ish character it's insane (also check out FOREVER as well because henry morgan is also reed richards adjacent). and look at how similar reed & ioan look here, from this angle:
crazy how ioan looks so similar to reed ā when comicbook artists are drawing reed to look like jim office, ioan gruffudd out here is literally aging like fine wine (and aging like reed richards).

Even if you donāt like Namor saying heās tried to rape her is kind of messed up
Well, I've said this before and I'll say it again: if you think Namor's behavior toward Sue over the years has in any way been acceptable or consensual, you're a fucking misogynist. He has sexually harassed her over and over--she's said no to him very clearly a dozen times, and he keeps on propositioning her and/or making sexual comments toward her--and, yes, he's abducted, assaulted, and threatened (implicitly) to rape her. And I have the panels to prove it.
In their VERY FIRST MEETING, Namor tries to force Sue to marry him by threatening to wipe out humanity if she does not (and if she does, he might just do it anyway). Any sex that would have occurred during a marriage that Sue was coerced into would NOT have been sex, it would have been rape, because she never at any point in that relationship would have had the right to say no, to marriage or sex.
You think he'd force a woman to marry him by threatening genocide, but he'd draw the line at rape?? The misogyny here is quite apparent--he calls her "a prize worth catching," as though she is merely a thing he has won. And he very directly says, in his own words, "If you will be my bride, I might show mercy to the rest of your pitiful race!" Yeah, that's not an actual choice. That is coercion, that is blackmail, and again, any sex that resulted from that "marriage" would not be consensual, not anymore than the marriage would be. I genuinely do not know how else to interpret the threat of rape that is barely even implicit in this scene.
And, for the record, this is the one and only interaction between Namor and Sue before she starts to show an interest in him, which I attribute to Lee/Kirby's misogyny more than anything. It doesn't make sense that this misogyny-riddled interaction would make her return his feelings--in fact, in more recent adaptations of this scene, Sue pretty explicitly calls out his misogyny (see Fantastic Four: Season One, for instance).
See more examples beneath the cut!
He also regularly tries to hurt or murder her family--Reed, Ben, and Johnny, who was a kid around fifteen years old when they met--which shows that he actually doesn't care much about Sue or even know her particularly well, because if he did he'd know that her family means everything to her, and that she could never be with a man who hurt or murdered them.
Ugh. The utter rapeyness of "Your struggles are useless! I like a woman with spirit!" Translation: he likes women who fight back against his sexual advances, especially since he knows he can overpower them physically. Gross.
And then, of course, in the fateful issue where she finally chose Reed over Namor, Namor, who is tired of waiting for Sue to make up her mind, goes to the Baxter Building, knocks out her younger brother and Ben, and, while she is worriedly examining her baby brother for injuries, knocks her out and abducts her. And then tells her, while he is keeping her prisoner, that it's all her fault that he kidnapped her because she wouldn't make up her mind.
"I don't want to make you a captive!!" bears with it the implication that her indecisiveness and supposed misbehavior ""forced"" him into harming her. That is emotionally abusive and that is gaslighting, and that is apart from the fact that Namor abducted and is LITERALLY IMPRISONING HER.
The whole point of this issue, of these interactions between Sue and Namor and Reed, is to contrast Reed's kind and patient treatment of Sue and her feelings with Namor's atrocious mistreatment of her. Reed respects Sue and her right to choose who she wants to be with for herself (i.e., her right to self-determination and bodily autonomy, as well as her consent), and waits patiently for her to signal to him that she is ready to take a step forward in their relationship--while Namor wants their relationship to progress on his terms, at a pace he chooses, regardless of what Sue needs or wants (i.e., whether or not she consents). And that, for the record, is what leads Sue to very understandably choose Reed, who treats her like an equal and cares about things like consent, over Namor, who very obviously does not.
After this, we get to some twenty years or so in the 1970s and 1980s where Namor's relationship with Sue and the FF is actually fairly decent, and his relationship with Sue and Reed is pretty fun. Honestly, if they'd continued in that vein, I probably would be willing to forgive Namor's 1960s-era behavior by chalking it up to the writers' misogyny.
But then the 1990s rolled around and ruined all my fun when the Namor/Sue/Reed love triangle made a very unwelcome return, which FF writers have run with ever since, unfortunately.
For context, before the panels below, Reed had been presumed dead, although Sue refused to believe it, and Namor had sort of teamed up with the FF for a few issues--hanging around Sue to see if she'd look his way now that she was a widow, basically. But then, when Reed returns, dashing all of Namor's hopes, and Sue is too sick to fight back, Namor does this:
And by "this," I do mean physical assault, attempted kidnapping, and, yes, I do interpret "Namor the First claims this woman for his own! She is leaving with me..." as another implicit rape threat. He is, once again, treating her like a chattel to be exchanged between men, and, again, he is saying that Sue's very clear "no" and "I'm married" mean absolutely nothing to him--i.e., her consent (or lack of it) make no difference to him.
And of course, this is far from the last example of Namor's assaults of Sue despite her very clearly not consenting to any sexual or romantic interactions at all, as in Marvel Knights 4 #8:
Physical assault, sexual harassment, how is this behavior in any way acceptable??
And, then, there's this moment, from Fantastic Four 1234, that gets romanticized and sexualized so often by fans, but all I can see is the fact that Namor just seemingly murdered Sue's baby brother in front of her (while she screamed and begged him not to), participated in Doom's attempts to kill the rest of her family, and now bizarrely expects her to run off with him, the apparent murderer of her entire family. And a deeply horrified Sue is pretty clearly rejecting him every step of the way.
So. Namor's treatment of Sue has, from their very first interaction, been marred by his deep and abiding misogyny, his privileged male entitlement to Sue's body, his perception of Sue as chattel that cannot say no to him, his repeated sexual harassment and assault of Sue, his utter disregard for her feelings as evinced by his repeated attempts to harm and/or murder her family...and can I say that I also think it's utterly shitty that he keeps on chasing after Sue despite all that Reed has done for him, including the times Reed has literally saved his life?? But that is, admittedly, relatively minor next to the enormity of his continued sexual harassment, assault, and abuse of Sue.
So let me make one thing clear: if you are defending Namor's utterly atrocious, deeply misogynistic treatment of Sue, YOU are a misogynist. Who apparently likes making excuses for violence against women if you happen to like the male character.
people loooove to hate on reed richards like he's the worst man in the world. fusing canon with fanon and creating this monster of a man. i hate it. he is a good friend. a good hero. a good husband. a good father. he can be brash. a downright asshole but thats all people focus on. those small tidbits and completely ignore any arc and anything else on the page about him.
reed richards haters be like, i hate reed richards, and then proceed to give a list of things that he does that are extremely autistic-coded as a reason why they hate him.

I tried writing this already but tumblr deleted my post because I switched apps one time too much or smt (weird ass feature)
so letās talk about elizabeth olsen and why she is problematic
tw//g-slur (mentioned but not written out by me - there will be videos with it in it) lesbophobia and talking about ww2, n4z1s and the holocaust
her disrespect towards romani people
so letās start with the fact that wanda maximoff/ the scarlet witch is jewish and romani, itās something very important for her storyline. Her dad was a jewish man who was a holocaust survivor (wich is also really the beginning of his story and why he turned out how he is)
elizabeth olsen plays wanda in the mcu (marvel cinematic universe) the first problem that occurs is that she is a white woman who isnāt jewish, so she stole a role from romani women. if you dont see the problem yet then let me introduce you to the next problem - she said the g-slur (links to sources about why the slur is bad will be added in the end of the post !) multiple times, first time she said it (so I was told) she didnāt know it was a slur but she was almost immediately called out for it but she kept saying it
so not only did she steal a role from romani women, she also disrespected them multiple times
her lesbophobic comment
she once compared lesbians with incest, wich is super lesbophobic
[addition unrelated to elizabeth olsen, pls donāt use lesbophobic if you arenāt a lesbian, lesbo is a slur - for you there is the word lesbianphobic!]
as a lesbian I feel very uncomfortable with that comment, I donāt wanna be compared to incest. this just criminalizes us because incest is illegal almost everywhere
if you say something like āshe meant she doesnt wanna steal roles from real lesbiansā thats not true because I dont think she cares about us. she already stole roles from romani and jewish people I wonāt belive her if she suddenly cares.
her unnecessary comment about serbia
the thing she said about serbia is just very unnecessary and weird
links / sources
why the g-slur is bad (written by a romani person)
more about elizabeth saying the g-slur //tw! videos of her saying the slur
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLDkReeK/
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLDkJYhg/ a video explaining all this in a shorter form
if you have anything more to add do so in the replies or reposts !
disclaimer!!
Iām not romani so all my information is from articles written by romani people and the education I recive at school. if I said anything wrong I accept every sort of critism by romani people.
and I think I have to add this, this ISNāT a personal attack towards elizabeth olsen nor her stans or mcu wanda stans this is just me educating and talking about what she has done and why itās wrong, if you canāt take that, thatās on you
I also saw someone on tiktok say āshe is friends with sebastian stan who is romanianā yeah thatās true but there is a huge difference between romani and romanian people - google it ! itās a quick short search to find out the diffrences
if you have any other opinion on this Iād love to talk about it
