It takes a violent lobotomy, an extreme parasite infestation, and then several months of torture followed by several more months of being forcefully resocialized before The Dark Urge even gets close to being redeemable. Gortash doesn't even get that.

Neither of them are pretending to be anything other than an absolute monster around the other. And we see that Gortash, at least, CAN pretend to be a decent person if he wants to. But he isn't even trying with the Dark Urge.

They are the purest, most vile versions of themselves around each other. The Dark Urge is a violent, sadistic, delusional fiend obsessed with murdering people for their god/father. Gortash is a selfish, brutal, power-hungry narcissist who treats everyone like tools to get what he wants. They both know this about each other from the start. Neither of them are hiding anything.

And that's why they like each other.

Idk man maybe I'm just middle aged, but there's something weirdly sweet about meeting someone who sees all the worst, most disgusting parts of you, the parts everyone else recoils away from, the parts even you yourself know are fundamentally unlovable... and realizing this person likes you not in spite of these things, but because of them.
