The Writing Hustle

Anyways, welcome to The Writing Hustle, Tumblr edition! If you’ve found me from my writing blog or Twitter, hey. SO glad to have you over here. I want to just take a quick moment and discuss, generally, what you’re going to find in my little corner of the Tumblr-verse (pretending that’s totally a thing).

Writing Inspiration

As writers, we’re pretty much inspired by anything. I love listening to new songs, finding gorgeous, aesthetic-y pictures, and honestly, discovering anything that makes my gears turn. SO, to help facilitate that kind of discovery, I’ll be re-blogging any unique pictures I think have a bit of a story behind them, or creating my own ‘mood-board’ type stuff that you can save to your own Writerly Mood Boards (yes, that’s a proper noun and 100% official) to get some inspiration. 

I’ll also be sharing some of my own pep talks in hopes that will motivate you to whip out that Word document and furiously type away at your novel, or whatever writing project (or honestly, any project) that you’re working on. 

Quotes & Poems

Okay, I unashamedly admit that I absolutely love quotes. So much. There’s just something about the eloquence of a few words strung together in a way that can impact so many people. I’ll be sharing some of my favorites in hopes to inspire and motivate, because we all know we need some of that motivation when you’re staring at a 100K manuscript with your red pen, poised to dive deep into revisions. 

There is some really beautiful poetry floating around on Tumblr, and maybe it’s just me, but seeing others’ beautiful and moving pieces always inspires me to work harder so I can weave together words and impact people in the way poems impact me. Hopefully it’ll encourage you to do the same. 

Writerly Tips and Tricks

This one’s kind of a given. If I find any advice that I feel is totally spot on, I’ll re-blog, and also share any tips of my own. 

Along the lines of tips and tricks, I plan to help you all with creating better characters and voice in your novels by taking pictures, matching them with an adjective, and then writing a little snippet of a scene or something with a character that embodies that adjective, just to give some examples as to how to create effective voice. (Basically, it’s something I wish someone would show me how to do, so I will be doing exactly that!). (Someone help me out with a name for this here??)

Hopefully I can drop some knowledge for you all.

If you’re a YA writer, then it’s important to stay connected as to what’s happening! Any publishing news, blogger drama (because dang, we all know that happens waaaay too frequently) and relevant news is stuff I’ll be reblogging.
