being straight while trans is nothing like being straight while cis; straight trans people face as much discrimination as lgb people and pretending they have privilege over us is ignorant and transphobic. we must stand by our straight trans siblings

#transphobes don't see any trans ppl as straight #they sometimes CALL gay trans ppl straight #but they also see them as '''fetishists''' and '''perverts''' and '''predators''' and that's... not how straight ppl are treated #that's not how bigots talk about a privileged orientation #orientation is as much about the person's own identity as that of the ppl they're attracted to #and you cannot have a privileged orientation if your gender isn't even part of the system!!! (via @ganseylike​ )

thinking about my optometrist who was treating my eye infection and said “if it hurts, you can rinse your eye with boiled water. look at me - look at me. i want you to understand that i mean water that has been boiled and has since cooled down. not boiling water. do you understand?” like i’m so grateful for this man ensuring that I wouldn’t destroy my eyes by pouring boiling water in it, because it is an adequate assessment of my intelligence
