shauna in yj season 3 finale was so peak unreliable narrator. "I was a fucking queen" not really. nobody respected her, nobody served her. the hunt that happened under her rule was a ploy to go around her and get help. "we had so much fun" nobody besides her had fun. everyone else (besides Lottie, who was struggling with a mental illness) wanted to go home. shauna was no Jackie, no matter how much she wants to pretend. she bullied and threatened people, all but spit on Jackie's legacy, but still couldn't retain any long-lasting influence. nat, who was ridiculed and pushed to the ground after killing coach ben is who the girls all rally around. nat is the one who inspires so much devotion in misty, devotion that remains 25 years into the aftermath. nat, the loner, the outcast, the girl who is the antithesis of everything shauna ever was, yet still closer to who Jackie was as a person. nat, who never tried to bully people for power. nat, who threw away Jackie's bones, who rightfully said that JACKIE was the team captain. and shauna hates that, doesn't she? no matter what, shauna will never be a queen. she will always be the angry, violent girl people don't care for or love, she will be the quiet wife and mother who burns inside but cannot do anything productive with it, cannot make out a greater purpose, cannot become a hero. shauna is truly a nobody in every sense of the word, and that is what makes her last lines in this episode so ironic and poetic.

oh so ur telling it's been Them since the start. it's been misty and nat the day misty took off her mask in the pilot and pushed her broken glasses up on her face and smiled. not bc she found power in the hunt or pleasure in the kill, the way we were meant to believe all the way back in s1, but bc she was able to help nat get away w the radio and find rescue. this is where the unwavering devotion starts. its like. nat is crowned leader in s2. misty kneels. nat punches misty when she finds out abt the transponder (and keeps the secret for 25 years) and in the wake of it? misty still fucking kneels. i feel insane.
