This one's really going to get them to 1m sub
and honestly it's just fucking insane that every time we try to talk about harm to children in particular we have to talk circles around the fact that these things are very, very overwhelmingly done by parents/family members/teachers/religious leaders/known and trusted adults in a position of power over a child, to the extent that many people's suggested solution to child abuse is "give the people most likely to abuse a child EVEN MORE strangling legal and material power over the kid"
you're not supposed to actually address who is abusing children and what can be done to give those children recourse and the ability to leave abusive situations because nobody actually gives a shit about child abuse beyond the familial property rights violation it represents to them and the cudgel against minorities which it can be turned into

God of war VALHALLA details:
I like how in the beginning of God of war (2018) kratos relies on atreus to translate the runes since he's not native to the lands
Then slowly but surely in god of war ragnarok (2022) he's able to draw/write simple runes, atreus and mimir must've muster their linguistic knowledge to him well.
And finally in VALHALLA he's able to read the runes all by himself, now that's growth man đĽšđ love that details over the years that not only does kratos changes for the better... He learns through it toi

ok ok. but the way kratos cries when he sees the mural depicting him as a god thatâs worshipped and loved because all his life fate has bound him to being a god-killing monster. for the entirety of these two games kratos has tried to make himself a better person and repent for all he did. even as ragnarok started he was furious he had to be tied up in yet another war,,, only to finally learn that it was all worth it - that heâs something more than the ghost of sparta and that heâs destined for something greater. that hit hard man im fucked up
cannot express how god of war ragnarok and the way it handles common but usually badly interpreted themes are dear to me. i love how it is about trying to be better for your own sake and the sake of the people you love instead of some moral superiority over your enemy. how it is about everyone having a chance to grow but not everyone choosing to use it. how it is about revenge and how it won't bring peace to your soul at the end in a way that does not make your pain and fury and grief unnatural and wrong. how it is about shattered people finding strength to put the pieces of their souls together again and people with the brightest hearts reaching their breaking point. how it is not about love being an easy way to fix things but about learning to love being a long hard path you have to walk to fix them. the game ever. so thoughtful and beautiful and human

Weather has been giving "bitchy mages in The Hissing Wastes" lately.
First dragon fight felt like this
(Iron Bull died, like, 10 times, Solas was busy ressurecting his ass, by the time the dragon had half of her healthbar, the whole team was dead. Except for my dear Blackwall, who then proceeded to club the dragon to death all by himself)

So so many things to say about it, but this game is an absolutely fantastic adventure and Kratos is a great dad. đ¤đ
i may have cried multiple times but we donât talk about that
As I play through the original GOW games for the first time after falling in love with the newer ones, Iâm realizing just how incredible Kratosâs growth is.
As a child in Sparta, Kratos was taught merit solely in terms of power. The only thing that mattered was being strong and defeating your opponent. He was brought up with the idea that as a person you are not inherently deserving of survival, much less respect, if you cannot conquer. This does not in any way negate the the damage he causes - but he believes his worth is based in that damage. He has a wife and child that he loves but that love doesnât hold a candle to his identity as a warrior.
Then he unwittingly kills them. This is the first time Kratos experiences firsthand the negative consequences of his own carnage. But still itâs all he knows. He plunges himself wholeheartedly into service for the gods, hoping that his skills as a fighter will lead to the absolving of his guilt. The opportunity presents itself to take revenge on Ares and he rushes into it without hesitation. This final request from the gods helps twofold for Kratos; he gets to kill the one he blames for the death of his family, and he thinks the reward will be to forget the role he played in their murder.
Killing Ares changes nothing. Kratos continues on with his shame, and the god of war ravages societies to the detriment of the gods. The lessons here are that revenge will not free you from your guilt, and leaning into the actions that caused this guilt will only further perpetuate the cycle of harm and consequent shame.
In GOW 2018, Kratos has changed, subdued in his hatred. He finds himself another lover and bears another child. Itâs clear that his time in remorseful solitude then his time with Faye have led him to rethink the kind of person he wishes to be. He learns that his value is not only in the damage he can cause, but in how he chooses to use that violence, who he chooses to help or hurt. Then that lover dies, this time without Kratosâs involvement. He is left to raise their child alone. He is forced to ponder what lessons he wishes to impart upon the young budding god.
Throughout GOW 2018 and GOWR we see Kratos teaching Atreus to keep his compassion and truly choose for himself how he acts, and (while with some hiccups) trusting the boy to take care of what he needs to. This is something Kratos must learn too. In guiding the child into adulthood Kratos comes to know that he wishes to be a herald of peace, that he can trust himself to make decisions that lead to a positive outcome, that he is not simply destruction incarnate.
Kratosâs story is one of unlearning generational trauma to prevent further harm for generations down the line. It is one of grappling with grief, overcoming poor habits learned in times of crisis, and learning to take agency over your life in a way that truly resonates with you.

Still think itâs hilarious that Kratos looked at Faye, a woman that regularly wielded a magic godkilling boomerang axe with ease, performed magical warding spells, and was considered a revered warrior and respected entity among other respected beings, and still thought: âyeah, thatâs a normal mortal human personâ.
