or perhaps former driver laura lee who lottie thinks is just an engineer, getting into an argument in practice bc LL says the car can be way faster if she drives more aggressively, lottie says it can't handle it, eventually laura lee is like ok fine ill just show you, grabs a firesuit and helmet and jumps in the car, immediately takes it way faster than lottie had it by driving way more aggressively and/or recklessly. and when laura lee pulls back in the garage and is like do you see know???? lottie wants to ask where she learned to drive like that or why she isn't the driver, but also can't get a word out bc shes more turned on than shes ever been in her life

I completely understand Lottie—I, too, would immediately fold for driver Laura Lee who seems unassuming, but would absolutely pull the riskiest moves on track.
In my head this also kinda works as age gap Lottielee if Laura Lee is a former driver, and I’m obsessed this is too good!!!! I initially wanted bright-eyed and still trying to fit into her engineer role Laura Lee (who probably did karting when she was younger but did not have the same opportunities as Lottie, or maybe had an accident as a parallel to her almost drowning in the pool and rediscovering/redirecting herself), but you have opened my eyes.
