neurotic blonde

“Today is my day. You know patience isn’t one of my virtues, Bonnie.” It was teasing. The former witch wouldn’t need her memories of the last thirty years to know that they had matured far beyond their years, especially together as a team. “But, this particular outing can be considered casual; your attention is more than free to wander.” With that, she offered a quick, sweet smile --  full of warmth and sympathy for her friend’s plight.

“I do,” she chirped confidently. “And you know exactly why.” Caroline didn’t feel the need to address Bonnie’s albeit understandable dependence on a particular heretic, and the affect it had on the Bennett’s willingness to leave the house. “Strike at dawn, as we always say.”

“Okay. Look. I’ll give you props, you had me going for a minute. But, that last comment? Total overkill.” she said, trying to push all of his comments away from her mind. She didn’t need this. She didn’t have to listen to him, and she definitely didn’t need to believe Kai Parker of all people. “Maybe don’t oversell so much next time.”

“Not really, thanks though.”

“don’t call me that.” caroline sighed before turning to look at the original. “what do you want, klaus?”

“ packing. i’m trying to get everything ready to leave. ”

“No.” the blonde admitted, only pausing for a moment before continuing “But, I am going to find my daughters, and Ric, then we’re going to get out of here, and all of this will just be a bad nightmare.”

"I think we have different definitions of can't."

"I will, and then she'll tell me that you're either delusional, a liar, or both." she explained, as if she already knew how the conversation would go. In all honesty, she was beginning to believe the heretic, and she wasn't sure what scared her more, that, or the fact her best friend might be dating this creep. She refused to stand down as he approached, though she did feel her uncertainty grow with every question he raised. "They're with Ric." She wasn't confident, and she knew it showed. "What's your game, Kai? What's the point of all of this?"

"honestly... i don't know what to believe anymore." caroline sighed as she looked at the young woman. "i just know that apparently i've forgotten some things, and i'm not the only one."

mom. she wasn't sure why that word bothered her as much as it did, but she couldn't help the way she tensed hearing it leave the boy's lips. "i guess not."

“I’m sorry, I’m sure you’re a good guy but.. no, I don’t.”

“I’m kind of busy right now...”

“Unless you are here to wake me up from this nightmare, I really don’t have time for this.”

To say the blonde was flustered would have been an understatement. She never should have said that, she shouldn’t have said anything. Blue eyes watched the doppelganger as she toyed with her, the vampire pushing herself as far as she could away from Katherine, feeling her cheeks heating up as she spoke. “Two can only keep a secret if one of them is dead.”

“You’re clearly not listening to me, Kai. Bonnie has been one of my best friends since we were kids. Sure, she’s made some bad decisions, gotten herself killed a couple times, but there is no way she would shack up with a guy that killed his entire family, left her to rot in a prison world, and took away our best friend.” Caroline argued, though, the more she said, the more she realized that the heretic might be telling the truth. As much as she loved the witch, she didn’t always make the best decisions, and if she trusted him enough to let him out to get Elena back, who knew what else the Bennett was willing to do. She tried to not think about it, and focused on his next question. “Because she died, Kai. You stabbed her at her wedding, she died, and she found peace. There was no open door for her to slip through like you did. And if she was back, I don’t think there’s a thing in this world that would keep her away from the girls, and I haven’t seen her. So, she can’t be back.”
