The magic of childhood is that you were constantly encountering new things. The best way to feel that way again is to fill your life with new experiences.

I just tend my garden (this tumblr) and mind my business.

A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf
My 3rd grade teacher once told me to read the books that are the the most damaged on the outside because you can tell by the damage its been read by a lot of people, and there’s usually a great story on the inside. This advice hasn’t failed me yet.
always judge the book by its cover
My first post on this blog 😆
currently at the life stage where I honestly start contemplating leaving and starting fresh somewhere else
Sometimes I like to imagine my life as a series or a sitcom. There are distinct seasons, with special characters and guest appearances.
Problem is, you often don’t know when one season has ended, until it’s long gone.
Because for sure, high school was its own season. It had its own set design and a specific group of characters.
And college, also distinct. Not my best season, but definitely would have made for good entertainment.
Then once you hit adulthood, there are less mile markers so seasons might get a little blurry
And to be clear, the sitcom starts in high school, with only dramatic flashbacks to a chaotic childhood.

Light Shafts / Sunset
I’ve never suffered from nostalgia. I can’t relate when people say they wish they could go back to being a kid or a teenager again. My life is infinitely better as an adult.
Nothing compares to having absolutely autonomy over my life, whether I use that power for better or worse at least it’s mine.
But the anemoia, wishing to see an era or time you never experienced… that ones gets me sometimes.
You can't fucking complain about women not attending church or following a god where they are second class citizens with limited voices. I'm sick and tired of this shit.
Applicable to so many religions, but definitely part of why I’m an Exmormon

Twilight, Lake Tahoe by Albert Bierstadt
I spent a fair amount of time there as a kid, my grandparents bought a little A Frame on the California side. The smell of the sugar pines in the summer was incredible. Found a picture of the kitchen and living room and if you look close you can see my grandma at the stove cooking. This was from our last visit to her “chalet”.
If you had to kill the better part of the day in some fairly metropolitan area (think like a downtown or a kind of hip main street of some kind) where would you go and what would you be doing? Sitting at a park? Coffee shop for a drink of some kind? What's the vibe?
Oh, this is a good one. I would definitely be finding a coffee shop where I can sit and write for a while. Then I’d want to window shop a bit. I love finding small and quirky shops. We’d head to a book store (preferable a thrift exchange) and find ourselves a good book. Then I would want to find a local park, somewhere where we can sit and read for a long while. Maybe grab a cool drink on our way.
That would be lovely.
