Soooo Bioware basically has been working their employees to exhaustion to the point where they hoped DA:I would fail so they could close as a studio
Yes, please. And people our age dare to say unions are worthless and have too much power.

So today I saw princess tam tam it was filmed in 1935 and it starred in my opinion the matriarch of black actors Josephine Baker. A self taught dancer at the age of 16 Baker was known to comand any stage that was set before her. In the movie she sung one of her biggest hits in both France and the US "Le Chermin du Bonheur" which translated to dream ship (I think). There is also holywood inspired dance rutine where Baker dances to exhotic rythms.
Overall this movie was fun to watch. I couldn't understand a word because it was in french but I understood what was happening through out

anime writer: okay so this fight scene has a lot of environmental destruction. the ground is fracturing, buildings are crumbling. these lads are going ham,,

I was wondering what this was referencing and I found this which taught me 2 things
This man had an incredible influence in the world of animation, and his action scenes are a delight to watch
animators do love their flying cubes
I set a goal for myself this month to watch as many Black films as posible for the whole month of Febuary.
So today I saw a black movie titled the "The Exile". The director of the film is Oscar Micheaux. This movie is about a Black Man From Chicago leaving his old life behind and finding true love out west. This is the first movie to have a all black cast, a milestone in american films. It came with controversy as well. The pennsylvania board of censors objected to this movie because of the main caracter Jean Baptiste kissing a white woman (who was later found out to be mixed later on in the movie). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHMAp1YKxy0
Found this film on Pioneers of African American Cinema (netflix) S1 Ep 9
Remnants of the British Black Panther’s Lost Legacy
Britain’s black power movement is at risk of being forgotten, say historians
The Cambridge academic Robin Bunce said: “There is a fundamental danger of erasing the very notion of a struggle at all. I’ve been researching this for four and a half years and there have been so many occasions when people have said to me: ‘There was no black struggle in Britain. You’re thinking of South Africa or America.’“
The narrative that feeds it is the one that Britain is the utopia of fair play. We have such a commitment to individual rights, we have such a commitment to common sense and decency that there is no systematic racism in Britain.”…
Bunce said it was not just politicians, but wider British society that would rather not dwell on the less palatable.
Happy Black History month!
Go, James Baxter, go! 🐴
I’m seeing a lot of comments wondering why James Baxter the horse’s movements are more fluid than everyone else’s. There’s an answer!
He’s based on, voiced by, drawn by, and named after James Baxter the animator. James Baxter is known for his very fluid animation, most famously the ballroom dance from Beauty and the Beast. You know that really smooth sequence in the Gravity Falls theme song where Dipper drops the candle lantern, and then Mable rubs cheeks with Waddles the pig? That’s James Baxter’s work.
With this in mind, rewatch his two Adventure Time episodes. In the first, James Baxter the horse makes people happy with his art (rolling around on a ball), which inspires Finn and Jake to do it, too. But they learn that they can’t just copy his style, they need to find their own thing. In the second episode, James Baxter loses his ball. He deals with the pressure of everyone wanting him to roll around on balls again, but in the end, decides to do something else. Something that make himself happy.
Anyway, these two episodes are great advice for artists, whatever you’re doing. But it’s also funny to know that one of the most legendary living animators is doing a horse voice and shouting his own name in a microphone.
Why does James Baxter just randomly drop into cartoon network shows to make one scene look good and then leave
chaotic good
Thank you to the Steven Universe community for saying such positive things about this scene, we thought you might like to see the pencil test. These are the shots from “Change Your Mind” that I animated and that Kendra @bcakesbaxter tied down. Thank you Rebecca for letting us be a part of your beautiful show. Thanks to our Drew @poseidonsbitch for scanning it all.
Absolutely masterful work. Thank you ever so much for sharing!

“I got interested in building robots, and I wanted to teach myself about hardware.
But building things with hardware, especially if you’re teaching yourself, is something that’s really difficult to do.
It has a high likelihood of failure and moreover, it has a high likelihood of making you feel stupid.
And that was my biggest fear at the time. So I came up with a setup that would guarantee success 100% of the time.
With my setup, it would be nearly impossible to fail. And that was that instead of trying to succeed, I was going to try to build things that would fail.
And even though I didn’t realize it at the time, building stupid things was actually quite smart.
Because as I kept on learning about hardware, for the first time in my life, I did not have to deal with my performance anxiety.
And as soon as I removed all pressure and expectations from myself, that pressure quickly got replaced by enthusiasm, and it allowed me to just play.”

I’m amazed with quality of animation in Legend of Korra. Also bought two artbooks about this series and collecting $$ for two others . Kudos goes to Studio Pierrot and Studio Mir!:3 Gah, just look at this movement!
This was a big deal once.
Look at the CG animation on hair now:
oh my god, i remember watching the special features of the incredibles and they kept saying how difficult violet’s hair was to animate.
excuse me i think we’re forgetting someone else’s beautiful hair
YOU’RE RIGHT
Are we really overlooking the Disney/Pixar character with 2,320,413 individually animated hairs?
can’t forget this lil Dreamworks lady’s hair
One of the senior animators actually spent six fucking years trying to write a new program to animate Rapunzel’s hair.
adding to the comment above, it turns out that disney had to actually hire someone with a PhD in animating human hair to get rapunzel’s hair correct
a PhD in hair
Imagine hearing about Disney need someone with a hair PhD and finally being able to say:
“This is my time”.
AND THEN THERE WAS THIS REVOLUTION
