I'm back! Now I'm leaving!
Blog is back, and I'm taking off for Vancouver this long weekend! I'm so excited for this trip and have been looking forward to it for a long time. I'll be flying to spend the weekend my partner Trevor :) I have successfully navigated Winnipeg transit and the YWG security, but it looks as though my first of two connecting flights had already been delayed. Stay tuned for anxiety induced rants ;)
On Vacation... Obviously!
If there is anyone out there waiting desperately for new shit Mitch does... Please continue to wait desperately. I'm putting this blog on vacation for the summer. Talk soon!
Hilarious. I Applaud Thee.
Back in the 807
Hola! I mean hello. I seem to be forgetting that I'm back in the beautiful 807 and not the 506 anymore. Today was my sister Jessica's grad. She's a smarty and got lots if awards. I'm proud. I also stumbled upon the old owl in the library while in Rainy River High School. Since its last leg amputation it has also had some trouble with its left eye apparently. I applaud the person who made the eye patch. Well done, well done.

We made it! Hello Peggy.
Hello everyone. I apologize things seem to be moving slower than anticipated. I was doing some yard work when I got a call that I was needed to bring you to Winnipeg, so I was in a bit off a rush to get here. I just need to do some cabin checks and we should be on our way in about 15 minutes.
Air Canada Pilot - (rescheduled flight is delayed 2 and a half hours and counting)
Almost home! Rap?
I left the SJO, for the YYZ, but the 627, left without me. They said its all g, For the YWG take the 623.

Itâs gratis! Oh, Merci!
I hope your literary skills are up to par and that you didnât understand any of that. In such case I would like to clarify that we had a âmiss-connectionâ via Air CanadĂ (itâs way cooler when you say it with a French accent). When it comes down to the peas and carrots we were in Toronto when we should have been in The Peg. They gave us a free hotel and food vouchers and tickets for a flight the next afternoon at 12:30. Fortunately the PK shuttle service in Winnipeg was very understanding ;) At this present moment in eastern clock time The Bodie and I are waiting for our new flight in the airport (which has also been delayed). Secretly Iâm hoping this experience turns into the movie Terminal, in which I just live in the airport because Air CanadĂ loves me too much and doesnât want me to ever leave. Iâll send you my new mailing address shortly.

Quirks of Costa Rica
I love Costa Rica. Here is a list of things that make me like this country:
- Pura Vida lifestyle means life is good and time is slow. Donât stop to smell the flowers, sit, relax, and maybe build your house by the flowers, because theyâre beautiful and you like beautiful things.
- The TICOS! Nicest most welcoming people. Costa Ricans have so much patience for silly gringos like me who canât speak Spanish. Thank you!
- Everything in Costa Rica is naturally beautiful. Itâs ridiculous. Everything.
- Anything can be reused or up-cycled here. Itâs a diyâers heaven.
- So many places have recycling bins for glass, aluminum, and organics. Love it.
Donât get me wrong, Iâm a really quirky guy. So these country quirks arenât bad things, just⌠character providing aspects that I can rant about.
- Toilet paper must always go in the garbage can, and not the toilet. Why. Why. Why. Plumbing canât handle it? I call BS. Iâve unloaded some major kaka in my time here and have yet to plug these so called fragile systemsâŚ. Iâm sure the ceramic throne can handle a bit of paper. They must have fast degrading paper available. Not only will it not smell like kaka if you flush the paper, but you wonât have to collect bags of poo covered paper every day. Itâs quirky.
- All bathrooms have signs saying not to waste water because it is a ânon-renewableâ resource. Iâm all for water conservation, as it takes energy to filter the water we consume. However⌠From what I remember in grade 3 there is a thing called a water cycle. Example, you use the water to wash your toilet paper bin⌠Yuck⌠and then the water goes into the sewer. Eventually this water is going to join a river, evaporate, and come down as rain. Bamb. Itâs a resource, and itâs renewable. What I get from this quirk is that Costa Rica is just so cute and caring, and have the best intentions. A better solution would to be use low water toilets rather than the behemoths that are currently in use. I may also need to watch documentaries on this water thing. But I still think it is quirky.
- Cell phone plans are sooo cheap and cloths and food are expensive (relative to other costs). If I lived here I would have 3 phones and wear them as a man bikini. Problem solved.
- Erbody had a tall gate and or barbed fence in front of their house. however, there is barely any fence on the sides of the house. Who are we trying to keeping out here? The blind toddlers? thats just cruel. I think itâs a customary quirk.

Lazy Me
I've been super lazy and haven't been posting lately. Regrets. Since we talked last The Bodie and I have gone white water rafting and then migrated to Puerto Veijo, on the Caribbean coast. We stayed at a place called Rocking J's, where we slept in hammocks. We spend our budget on a massage, food, food, and food. It was glorious. We also got some beach time in and checked out the markets. Now, we are back in San Jose and are hoping to reunite with our tico amigos before flyin back to the beloved winterpeg on Friday. Look forward to my upcoming post: The Quirks of Costa Rica. Disclaimer, there may not actually be a post, or it may be called something completely different. Bye!

Corcovado National Park
Corcovado National Park
Yesterday we visited the most biological diverse location in the world. So, in Mitchellâs perspective we saw a shit ton of animals and plants while hiking for 4 hours in constant fear of being assaulted by poisonous and/or dangerous creatures. The park was indeed beautiful and I doubt I will ever come closer to as many wild monkeys. I swear if their primal instinct wasnât to bare their teeth and fling poop at me I would have stolen one or maybe five. We also saw a pack of crab-eating tico raccoons. And when I say pack I mean 30. Also on the radar were 5 parrots. They seemed quite angry, and didnât even make the effort to say hello, but they were nice to observe from a distance. In fact, the jungle was also infested with thousands of orange and purple crabs. They would be chillinâ on the hiking trail until they heard us coming, at which time they would crab walk back into their creepy crab holes. Our hostel was a 2.5 hour âcollectivoâ ride from the entrance to the park. I could make this ride sound really bad, but I actually liked the experience. It was just like in the movies when a group of Latino men ride in the back of a covered cattle truck, except it was mostly tourists, guides, and school children. The landscapes and scenery were incredible. Overall a long and exhausting day but totally worth the effort.
Gahhhh! Spyyyyyder!

Uvita Part 2
Flutterby Hostel is where I'm at. Imagine if Hippies embraced the modern conveniences of wifi... that's the atmosphere.... and I like it. We went surfing on our own today. I successfully got up on my own several times. All parts of my body got a workout, especially my smile muscles ;) Tomorrow at dawn we're heading to Corcovado National Park. I've been instructed to find and document one of the prized sloth species. Challenge, accepted!
