How would stan^4 react to stan^4 reacting to stan^4 reacting to stan^4

Ford takes out the multiversal seam rippers. He’s heard of this phenomenon and he needs to break into the fourth ‘wall’ dimension to disassemble the silliness at its source, lest the next one becomes infinitely increasing the levels of Stan^4

How would, well, any interdimensional traveling ford/stan of your choice react to it (GoGs Stan and/or ford, and the double ferals for example)

Double ferals looking at the M shaped everything, hear “mave a mice may!” And just stare at each other and think “we need to retreat back into the woods”

GoGs Ford isn’t even upset like usual when everyone runs away screaming from him because he’s too busy staring at everything dumbfounded like “what. What. What. why does this dimension exist. Just. Why”

M shaped followers lining up to give GoGs Stan M shaped offerings of food and treasure and Stan just internally going “don’t laugh. Don’t laugh. Don’t laugh”

JHDFJAHDSGDSFJ I choose to respond to this as all of the above but briefly:

The Doubles: M is for Maim. (They hate it here and anything that gets too close gets ripped apart by teeth)

GoG Ford: A Deity with the literal power centred around changing things. Yeah, I mean. He probably doesn't have the immediate M for Motive but if he did he could hypothetically un-M his surroundings at will. For me this is the funniest possibility. "Fuck you," *un-Ms your dimension* Realistically he's just politely confused and maybe perturbed before quickly leaving.

GoG Stan: your read on him is entirely correct I fear. He thinks this shit is hilarious and it's been a LOOONG time since he's had a good laugh. There are tears in his eyes. He's physically shaking. He has to be a good god he has to be a good god he has to be a good god he has to--

Mirrorwalker: MW Ford has a uniquely negative relationship with the letter M, as M is for Mirrors and Mary. And Making bad deals you can't undo. He seethes every time he has to go through the M dimension. Sometimes Mary sends him there just to watch his M for Misery and Murderous intent. If you don't want him to pursue your bounty, truly there are few better places to hide. Unfortunately, Most Fords would frankly rather fight off an angry Bloodhound than hide out in the M dimension.

Of your other au versions of ford, which ones would MW consider to be closest to the “ideal” ford? Are there any he’d be willing to kill?

Yknow that’s a really good question.

I think Death and Three Obstacles and Relentless Chase would be his favourite Fords. Even though they have very different relationships to their Bills, Stans and Fidds, they tend to hold each of them in equal levels of importance in their lives (even if they try to deny some of those connections)

I think he’d find Game of Gods Ford very unbalanced by his own standards, but he wouldn’t be willing to kill him because… that’s a god. He couldn’t kill him even if he wanted to. No way he’s chancing that - he may be a Ford but he has SOME self-preservation instinct.

Stan^4 Fords are basically canon Fords, so he’s happy with those and he would leave them alone. I think Circuit Breaker a little less balanced but he’d let him be fine.

Apocalypse Squared Ford can’t be killed, but his ratios are a bit skewed. Still. Mostly fine.

Negotiator Ford… it’s not his fault, but his Stan and Bill ratios are a mess and his Fidds one has been impacted bad by the lobotomy. He might go for him if there’s a good enough payout, but he’d prefer to take a hit on Negotiator Stan.

Doubles Ford is unbalanced as all shit. He’s basically all Stan. It would be a tough fight but he might be willing to take that bounty for the right price.

Trinary Ford is also just canon Ford more or less so he’s fine. He’s actually a great ratio. Maybe he’s up there in the favourites with the other two I mentioned before.

See, The Bloodhound™️ has killed or captured ample Stans simply for the money. He prefers to go for the ones who are assholes or Bill-aligned, but when he needs money he needs money. He tries not to think about it too hard. If you consider finances a need, that could be considered a ‘had to’ but he’s not actually being forced to per se.

There’s the self defence definition of had to. Where a Stan decided to try and kill MW Ford and he was like. Well no. A Stan might want to do so for a variety of reasons, but none of them have succeeded yet. So. But usually when it comes to hostile Stan’s (and even Ford’s mostly), MW will try and talk them down. And by talk them down, I mean very bluntly lay on the intimidation thick. Just be like. Just so you know, you’re not winning this fight. And I am a non-human Ford so you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into. Just very publicly advertise that he is in fact stronger than them to try and dissuade it.

There’s had to from a coercion standpoint. Someone with more power than him really wants him to finish a contract and either they’re some form of threat to him or they have something he wants or they’re not gonna leave him alone til he does etc. you meet a lot of unsavoury figures working as a bounty Hunter, and whilst he tries to avoid people giving off rancid vibes, sometimes they’ll approach him first or he’ll just miss the signs until it’s too late. In those cases, it’s better for him to just comply because not doing so will be a lot of trouble and maybe even danger for him.

Then you have the very literal had to, which is sort of when any of his pacts get enforced. Technically this doesn’t need to just be from Mary, Bill and/or Jhess; he has made pacts before that require him to finish a task before he reaps the reward from them. Either way, no matter what the pact is for or who uses it, usually there’s some form of supernatural force that forces him to keep going whether he likes it or not. This varies depending on the pactmaker, ranging from direct mind control / charming him, to physical puppeteering of his body to force it to keep going, to putting his body through such excruciating pain when he resists the action that he can’t handle not doing so. Really it’s dealer’s choice. Literally!

Stan is not exempt from any of these scenarios really. Powerful people often want Stan dead, and his pactholders will want them dead for a lot of reasons.

One particularly cruel reason Ford has been forced to kill Stan’s before is because any that get close to MW Ford and decide they want to try and free him from his pact with Mary get singled out by her as a threat, and she then promptly forces Ford to try to kill them. And Ford is very good at his job.

Because I imagine if he just straight up told them “you can’t get close to me because I might end up forced to kill you” it would have the opposite affect and just make the Stan want to help him more

So the situation is like this. Imagine Ford is a company, and Bill, Bloody Mary and Jhesselbraum are shareholders. Whoever has the most shares gets to make the big decisions. Mary has 40% so she makes most the decisions. But, there are two other shareholders, which means that if Bill and Jhesselbraum agree on Ford not doing something, they can veto it together. Same goes for any combo - Mary and Jhess can veto Bill, Mary and Bill can veto Jhess. But generally speaking, what Mary says goes because the other two will rarely coordinate to stop her.

MW Ford is able to choose his bounties when it’s just him bounty hunting for himself; but when Mary tells him to go after someone in particular directly, he doesn’t usually have much choice. More often than not he’ll just do it because it’s not worth the headache.

If she tells him to go after someone he finds particularly objectionable, she will be able to force him to do it unless both Bill and Jhesselbraum say he doesn’t have to. So if Ford wants to overturn a direct order from Mary, he has to convince both Bill and Jhesselbraum (two people with VERY different agendas) to both say no to it.

The good news is that Bill and Mary are constantly having a bitch-off / custody battle over Ford sorta, which means that he can be persuaded to vote against her simply out of spite. Jhess is generally more considerate of Ford’s wishes, so if he’s very distressed or it’s a personal mark, she’s willing to vote for him too often. It’s just that Bill also wants to spite Jhess, so the coordination of the two is the difficult part.

Also there’s the difficulty talking to Bill to begin with but his relationship to Bill is its own can of worms.

His choices are primarily made when he’s not doing anything immediately for Mary. It would be just as much work for her as it is for him for her to be constantly coming up with something for him to do or someone for him to go kill lmao so he gets a decent amount of free time to pursue money.
