This Blog!

Was intended to be a side blog but has more or less become my main one through the power of the hyperfixation demons™. This is all Gravity Falls here babyeee. I'm quite new on Tumblr and so I haven't quite gotten into the swing on reblogging unless I find something I'm like !!! gotta point at it like an interesting bug on the wall, but I largely post about my fics, post chapters for some fics and art relating to Gravity Falls here!

I really enjoy media analysis, character and relationship exploration based stuff, and also just silly things. I'm mostly autistic about the old men, with my favourites being Ford and Stan, then also enjoying Bill and Fiddleford.

Me!

Hi and Hello! I'm Lost (a pseudonym which may be subject to change). I am 22 and use She/Her pronouns (but have no preference on gendered language at all) and I'm an AuDHD AroAce (AAAA) - which reflect particularly prominently in my work and interpretations on characters.

I'm a former art student and current psychology graduate, and I also enjoy a handful of other topics including gemology, astronomy, D&D and more™. I'm uniquely delighted by things that come in sets (I.e. card suits, 4 elements, sun & moon, tarot) for one reason or another. I also make and sell jewellery sometimes because I have a bad tendency to hoard shiny things and craft supplies.

Relentless Chase - Longer Detective AU fic -

A relationships-focused fic exploring obsession, relationships and the inherent homoeroticism of having an arch nemesis. It's lower-fantasy than most GF fics, with Bill being a human man here. I purposefully include certain references/parallels to the show but a lot of this is fairly detached. This is my first ever fic and very self-indulgent for me, and I explore aspects of AroAce identities, QPRs and polyamory here.

Apocalypse Squared - Longer / Open-running 80s Weirdmageddon fic -

When Ford confronts Bill, he wastes no time in simply possessing him to turn on the portal before he can put the retinal scanner in place. Stan watches the apocalypse start from Oregon, and decides that it's probably not a coincidence that that's where Ford lives. He rushes to retrieve him from the demon's grasp, and the two end up on an insane road trip on the run from both their respective past bad decisions. This one is mostly lighthearted/funny but at certain points spontaneously plunges into heavy angst.

Death and Three Obstacles - Medium (haha pun intended) fic - Ghost Ford au basis -

When Ford dies, Bill possesses his body to prevent it going fully offline and recruits Stan and Fiddleford to come to the house and help him figure out how to revive him. Meanwhile Ford, who would rather die in peace and stop the apocalypse, is very firmly trying to assert that they should cut it out. Everyone experiences a different genre of fic as A ghost, his 2 exes, his estranged twin brother and his corpse have to share a house. This fic emphasises the most negative aspects of Ford's relationships with Bill and Fiddleford and draws on themes of autonomy in relation to the character.

Circuit Breaker - Medium? (tbd) fic using magic bs -

When Stan doesn't respond to Ford's postcard on account of being abducted and in the process of being murdered, Ford gets desperate and turns to magic to try and protect him as his time allocation from Bill ticks lower. This takes an unexpected turn, accidentally creating a situation where the two brothers swap places after one of them dies. This causes a lot of problems, as the two of them are suddenly dragged deep into the unique dangers the other is facing. Luckily they have a few dependable allies including Stan's.... ex...? Jimmy. This is one of the darker fics I've written / gets particularly heavy at times.

Stan^4 - The nightmare timestuck au from Hell - unclear length Twins in Time variant -

The Sea Grunk Twins are on their bullshit when they encounter a rift remnant of Time Baby's death. A mistake here sends both of them back to the 80s... as well as drawing 2 younger variants of each of them forwards. Now there are two groups of twins roaming: Grunk Ford (who is also a feral Ford take), Mullet Stan, Teenage Ford (just post science fair), and Child Stan, and: Grunk Stan (who has memory lapses), Paranoia era Ford, Teenage Stan (just kicked out), and Child Ford. Somehow they need to find a way to keep everyone safe in the most dangerous era for both of them - running from both various criminal gangs and Bill Cipher's attempts to mess things up. Oh, and also they can't seem to have healthy relationships with each other and themselves either.

The Negotiator - length tbd - Dark Stan AU -

When Stan agrees to take Ford's book and bury it, an unexpected visitor pops up and tells him that things could be better if he made a deal. Of course, he's a businessman; he knows better than to take the first offer put on the table. Stan starts the apocalypse for Bill, and is put in a favourable position of power immediately. Better yet, for him, Ford is there and he's stuck with him until he agrees to join the two of them. Stan's just thrilled to have his brother back! Even if he's very, very unhappy with the current situation.

Game of Gods - Collection of Scenes / Prompts / One Shots as part of the AU

This AU is also listed below in the AU section, but yes! Game of Gods focuses on a version of Stan and Ford who fell through the portal together and were picked up by Bill and the Axolotl - who each took one twin to make into the Avatars of Order and Chaos. This results in a pair of deity twins who have very different receptions by the multiverse - and all the disasters that entails.

Orbit of a Trinary System - ~40k Character Study fic -

Bill uses a proverbial bomb he implanted in Ford's psyche to split his mind into pieces / elements, and tries to make the case to the Theraprism that that means they should take Ford in. Stan and the kids enter his mind to prove that they have it handled and Ford does not need to be institutionalised. This fic emphasises the different aspects that make up Ford, how he copes and relates to himself, how he relates to others and how others see him.

The Wounded Animal Instinct - ~10k Feral Ford au -

Many animals will conceal injuries or illnesses in order to avoid exposing weaknesses, and others will retreat quietly away to die when they sense the end is near. After Weirdmageddon, Ford struggles to suppress these instincts in relation to his own injuries, leading to an unfortunate incident which may just be beneficial long-term. Hurt/Comfort for the Stan Twins.

Take One for the Team? - ~2.5k Comedy, Post-canon / Handyman Bill au variant sorta -

The Stan twins get a plea from a Theraprism worker who is just. Really really fed up with their job and life. They ask if they may be willing to perhaps take in the demon, given that he's violently down bad for Ford still. It's a crack treated semi-similarly fic that plays off of / lovingly makes fun of a lot of Bill returns to Gravity Falls fics tropes.

Synaptogenesis - ~7k Angst, Hurt/Comfort - Memory Gun Erasure fic -

A Fic where 80s Ford is shot with the memory gun to kill Bill. Except, he doesn't really have a photo album, or as smooth a recovery as one might hope for. He's left in a house with 2 strange men, disoriented, frightened and stuck in a bad identity crisis, feeling like an impostor in another, more beloved man's place. Includes gratuitous use of neuropsychology jargon.

Littermate - ~7k Pure Fluff with some comedy, Werewolf Stan AU

Stan has a full moon in Gravity Falls, catches the smell of his littermate and his wolf self is absolutely overjoyed and ends up surprise adopting him a bit. POV switches between Human Stan, Wolf Stan and Ford, comedy and awkward conversations which leads to a sweet ending.

Nobody noticed for 4 years that Ford was a vampire, and when they did it was by complete accident. He does his best to explain it to Stan, who is pretty mortified about it.

Mirrorwalker AU - my own personal self-indulgent multiversal Ford variant where he decides once he's in a hole he may as well keep digging down further

Mirrorwalker Ford finds himself in the mirror realm on his journeys, encountering one of Bill's exes, Bloody Mary. She offers him her own unique deal, and Ford goes fuck it. Literally my life couldn't get worse than with the deal I currently have - at least we both want the same sort of thing. He continues with this mentality, making a shit ton of pacts until he's a much stronger, but less autonomous Ford who also might be part-ghost? He's also obsessed with keeping his relationships in perfect ratios but that's probably fine. He shows up in the mirrors of Gravity Falls, where members of the Zodiac can see him and that freaks them out quite a bit also.

Game of Gods AU -

Stan and Ford fall through the portal together and are met by Bill and the Axolotl on the other side. Each God takes a twin and grants them power.

In for a Penny AU - Take on Stan calls Ford first au/fic -

Stan is in trouble, perishing, etc. and calls Ford because he doesn't think he has any time left. Ford rushes across the country, saves him and gets him to hospital. Except, he actually doesn't have the money to pay for it. So he decides to commit to the bit, Gravity Falls has already shown him to be a bit morally ambiguous, and jumps straight to robbing a bank. Things only get crazier from there.

Hook, Line and Sixer - Amnesia/Time loop mix up fic -

An incident leaving Ford with his memories resetting every day results in a fierce competition between Stan and Bill, who every day try to convince him to or not to turn on the portal downstairs.

Language Barrier -

MW ford doesn’t have a bounty on him or anything. In fact MW Ford doesn’t want to be fighting at all.

But GoGs Ford somehow found out that a years ago MW ford killed some to GoGs Stan’s friends and make him sad. And then while GoGs Stan and ford were traveling together, MW ford is unlucky enough that they happen to run into him. And GoGs ford is PISSED that MW Ford committed the heinous crime of making his twin super sad. That CANNOT stand

GoGs Ford and it's not even close. ESPECIALLY if he's mad. He gets more powerful with emotions.

I cannot stress that GoG Ford when he's mad is the most powerful being I have added into the multiverse. He is The Avatar of Chaos. MW is a bounty hunter with emotional problems.

They don't tend to do it often, but if GoG Stan or Ford wanted a (somewhat) regular creature dead it is a wave of a hand for them. Most creatures do not have a chance to process that they are being killed.

GoG Ford has the capacity to destroy matter. MW is made of matter - at least for the mostpart.

Hmm!

Well, Grunks definitely can. Functionally, I'm not sure if anything CAN kill them a this point. They've surpassed all the Stan and Ford extinction bottlenecks at this point, so as far as the narrative is concerned, they're functionally immortal.

The adults are a different story. I think Ford has the advantage on being able to quickly gauge and assess a situation, paranormal happenings and work out the logic a supernatural thing operates on. Meanwhile Stan has the advantage on survival instincts, fighting and hiding. Overall, I reckon if they worked together they would and if they refused to they wouldn't.

My hopes are not high for the teens. They have all the conflicts the adults have but very few of the skills. Maybe if they manage to tag along in a group with any of the other pairs. I realise I've been pairing them off instead of just putting them all in one group. That may be an error on my part.

The kids would enjoy the ballpit and they're probably somewhat protected by the narrative. Plus, they're natural explorers so if there's an exit point around, they'll find it. I think they could also hide easier from anything that may be in there on account of being smaller. If they were on their own I think they'd have a fighting chance, but it's not guaranteed.

What if instead of getting Waddles at a fair at gravity falls, Mabel actually gets Waddles while traveling with Ford

Like either GoGs ford creates Waddles for her, or maybe they come across waddles at some alien farm and decide to “liberate” him

There ARE multiversal fairs / funfairs. Could be funny if Waddles was like a fortune / golden pig from Lottocron 9 - like 'when pigs fly' odds with wings ajdfshfdskjfdsk

So many options. But also GoG Ford would make a pig for her if she wanted one. No hesitation. Make a magical pig protector / guardian to keep his favourite niece safe from multiversal (or even Earthen) threats when he can't

maybe even to keep her safe from him if he has another meltdown...

i was thinking, we know how GoG! Stan reacts to Ford killer! Stans and Stan killer! Fords. But what about the Ford Killer!Fords? Such as MW Ford?

His opinion on Ford killer Fords is mixed and deeply uncomfortable. He doesn't respond with the same level of vitriol he does with Ford killer Stans, but it's also not something he wants them to continue with. If they're Bill-aligned, he actually has the capacity and does revert them. Usually back to a state before they had powers or back to being a child even sometimes. Fuck you, evil Fords get sent back to basics.

I think the concept is just too upsetting for him to easily comprehend, because there's an immediate warring between his protectve instincts and sympathy and agony.

Like, MW is a man he oscillates rapidly between being frustrated with/angry at and deeply sympathetic towards because he's a version of his brother and he's suffering badly and pushed into situations he hates, but he also does some unforgivable things sometimes.

Really it's all just an enormous mess for him and he maintains his pacifism but he can lose his temper too, depending on the occasion.

I think Stan would need to take 5 away. Bounty Hunting is part of the multiverse ecosystem. That doesn't make this easier. Stan has to be strong and hold it together and be a good God and not react strongly and accept death. And to an extent, he is able to handle death better than most because he exists as a cog in the death-life cycle.

At the same time, he does not want to see him. Ever.

He will give him the chance to leave. And Not. Return. Maybe he'll be more alright with him in a century or a millennia or whatever. Not right now.

My evil Ford variant, Dimension 36”/ Ford!

36”/ Ford is a Ford who has been very much under Bill Cipher’s thumb for the majority of his life. See, his version of Bill was much more active pre-weirdmaggedon, looking to influence highly intelligent minds to join his cause. When he honed in on Stanford, he did everything to make Ford hate humanity from a young age, eventually culminating in leading Ford to Gravity Falls by making him run away at seventeen. 

Ford, unfortunately, is so enamoured with Bill and the idea of Weirdmageddon that by the time the first test run happens, Fiddleford’s attempts to dismantle the portal end up getting him shot, and Stan gets forced into a deal with Bill, and because of that Stan is now being used by Bill as a figurehead for the new religion centering Bill. 

Ford is unstable, to say the least, experiencing extreme mood swings due to Bill using his powers over Ford’s brain to cause chemical reliance on him. This unintentionally spilled over into Ford being absolutely obsessed with Bill, to the point where he’ll threaten to trap Bill in the Fearamid with him using the natural law of weirdness magnetism if Bill goes too long without spending time with him. That particular ability he can only use in his own dimension.

36”/ Ford’s M.O. outside of taking over his own dimension and forcing everyone to bow to Bill is to convince other Fords and Stans to side with their Bills and bring about Weirdmageddon. He does this primarily by going to younger versions who haven’t met Bill yet or more morally grey versions who could if given the right incentive. 

His main “thing”, in terms of powers, is the ability to use his own blood as a kind of psychedelic. This is how he gets people on his side. It’s kind of like an infection. If he can get someone to consume his blood, he can use it to puppeteer them and influence their thoughts. Other than being able to teleport, his abilities are mostly hallucinogenic in nature, specifically focusing on attacking and weakening a person’s mind in order to put them in a position where he can either kill them easily or convince them to make a deal with him. He has fairly high durability and strength, courtesy of Bill not wanting to risk Ford getting mangled, but no crazy reality-destroying abilities yet. 

Bill is far and away Ford’s most important person. Ford genuinely sees Bill as his Muse and savior, and will not take any criticism of him from anyone but Stan, and even then he’ll get pissed off if Stan harps on about it for too long. Ford has begun to see Bill as “his” as much as Bill sees Ford as “his”. Unfortunately neither of them actually know what they want, so even though they’re obsessed with each other they’re both pretty miserable about it.

Stan is Ford’s non-negotiable. The one person he still cares about, still likes spending time with. Because Stan is his constant, the thing that keeps him happy no matter how they interact. Unfortunately, because Stan is so against Bill at the start of Weirdmageddon, Ford did need to adjust his brain somewhat.

Ford really regrets what he did to Fiddleford, but in his eyes there was nothing else to be done. Fiddleford didn’t trust Bill, Bill hated Fiddleford, and then Fiddleford went and betrayed them both by making a cult specifically to stop Bill’s influence spreading. He regrets it, but oh well.

Also I love MW so much he's such a unique concept :)

HOOOOOHHHH boyyy that's crazy and also very interesting. The blood is A CONCERN. MW consumes blood frequently because life force helps him heal. As a blood mage, it's sort of his thing to have as much of it around as possible. So... hopefully he does his research on that first KDFHDFDSKJFS. The good news is that if he IS made aware, he has the ability to manipulate blood and can effectively prevent this guy from using it in any meaningful way.

Yeah, no. MW does not like this guy. This is a CLEAR example of what happens when the ratios of someone's Anchor Points are wrong. This Ford is missing his Fidds anchor point, so the part of him that's 'grounded' and 'moral' is gone. Easy and simple.

Sorry kid I know you got groomed but this is a mercy kill at this point. Simply due to the power level of the guy, he'll ask something like 50,000 credits, but that's mostly to cover the costs of countering him. He is taking this job for love of the game plain and simple. 100% chance of taking the job as long as he reckons he can.

Ideally, he'll have a destabiliser done by this point. He doesn't especially want an angry Bill against him, but to be fair he's already got one half the time so what's the difference, really? As long as this guy isn't flat immortal he'll put everything he can into killing him.

To avoid too much trouble, he'll start by taking the form of one of the Fords who is on this guy's side. Idk how long the ruse will last since he won't be able to control him, but it only needs to last long enough to get close.

Lots of delightful ways to kill someone like this. MW would prefer to vaporise him altogether, perhaps attaching the equivalent of a small atom bomb to him before jumping into the mirror realm as it detonates. As I say, it's a job that'll take a lot of prep and resources, but for MW it's absolutely well and truly worth it.

HELLO!!

So, YES! He does. I haven't worked out the exacts of that, but MW's Stan DOES bring him home.

MW cares about the ratio, and he comes through the portal with the intent to punch Stan like a good Ford should. But he gets there and he just. Is overcome with joy. Turns out all the multiverse Stans have nothing on the original. Instead he meets the hug and is cheerfully like

"OH MY GOD YOU DID IT! WE'RE PROBABLY ALL DOOMED! IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU! FUCK WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! :D" and immediately jumps to containing the rift.

MW knows a little too much about the other timelines and what should/shouldn't happen so he knows a solid 80% of the time Stan reopening the portal = imminent doom, and Weirdmageddon usually does NOT end well.

Then he goes up and fucking decimates the FBI agents. He's like hey guys stay down here :DD and then. Uh. Yeah. The mystery Shack is very bloody afterwards. BUT THAT'S OKAY!! HE CAN MANIPULATE BLOOD!

So his Stan is contending with the Ford who returned to him is a bloodthirsty maniac but he's surprisingly alright with it because MW cannot suppress just how much he cares about his brother.

Then MARY comes along. And throws her weight around, demanding he come back to the multiverse. The offer MW makes her is this: please let him stay around at least to prevent the apocalypse? Maybe let him live out the rest of what would've been his mortal lifespan with his family? She's got him for eternity, what's 30 something years?

And I will also toss in Grunk Stan's reaction to them finding it which is he puts his head in his hands in sheer despair and then refuses to leave his room for 3 days.

GRUNK FORD FINDS THIS HILARIOUS and he will not let him live it down. Their relationship is good enough that he can and will incessantly tease him and he will make quips with Mabel about it like a sort of alliance between them.

Mullet Stan is MORTIFIED. He glances sideways at Paranoia Ford who's trying (and largely, failing) to suppress his laughter. He makes a vow to himself to never allow this. He cannot and will not ever deal with the devious child who made this happen. But alas, he knows the damage has already been done.

The Teens are... well there's an extent to which they're more distanced from it, but at the same time Teen Ford is absolutely keeping this information in his back pocket and if he ever gets into an argument with Teen Stan again he's going to start quietly singing the song at him, causing the other brother to seep in his humiliation. It's a very effective argument winning tool actually.

The kids are less devious about it and actually like the clip - Stan isn't AS fond of it at first, but after Ford notices, he adapts a 'Ford wrong song' for when he messes up and then they end up using it as a lighthearted way to admit they messed up without either of them feeling too bad about it.

I very clearly miscounted at some point but I know that this IS number 11 so. Hm.
