Hungry for a Pie? In our travels across Appalachia many of us undoubtedly stumbled upon the mythical Port-A-Diner machine containing a tasty looking Perfectly Preserved pie. The neon-pink frosting filled with every preservative in the known universe staring right back at you from behind the glass dome. With all that (probably) sugar goodness just waiting for us to be taken for free was enough to spend a good minute pressing the button and watching the claw just barely losing the grip of the paper plate. On a slow day when I was still a freshly introduced tester I was left to my own devices as it is the standard for new people to familiarize themselves with a project through ad-hoc testing. I stumbled upon one specific Port-A-Diner on a roof of the Vault-Tech University and to my surprise the machine picked up the pie. However, after looking for the Pie in the deposit window there was nothing to be found. I asked around and checked the wiki, apparently there were 41 Port-A-Dines in Appalachia so me being very scrupulous I just had to check all of them. This task took about 3 days. With the help of some other people we managed to find out that this one specific Port-A-Diner in Morgantown was the only one that did not reward the player with the chemically packed dessert. After that it was quite easy to reproduce this issue enough times to consider it a real issue.
That was one of my first big “ticket” issues that some would consider pointless but nevertheless even if just one player managed to acquire that Pie from the machine it was all worth it. In the next post I’ll tell ya’ll about an issue that really could have broken some key content for many players… But until then, stay wonderful, drop new players ammo and enjoy the big 2026.
