i really will never be able to stop posting about how deeply it pains my heart to watch certain old videos of phil and compare it to how he acts now like we actually had no frame of comprehension for how much of himself he was repressing for so many years. like. literally even up until the actual hard launch a few months ago. the constant calculating we can now retrospectively see behind his eyes the total refusal to give even and inch that he might have to retract or that might endanger what they were protecting. it's insane. it's insane we're not talking about this constantly it's just insane that he pulled it off the way he did and how people would literally write essays about how bland and inexpressive and closed off he was but that's what he felt that he had no choice but to do. and he still managed to create a world and a safe place that people fell in love with and NOW he glows like he swallowed a fucking lightbulb like ive never seen a change in a person like that and it's so joyous and the happiest ending for this kind and selfless and perfectly self-contained and self-knowing man that there ever could have been. but the right moment catches me or i watch the wrong old thing and i just get so. freaking. sad.
