Howdy, I’m The Painted Sable! I’m a traditional art hobbyist, and this is my art blog! I mostly tend towards mixed media, and I’ll do my best to tag the general materials I’ve used on a piece beneath any particular post. You’ll likely be seeing a lot of watercolor, marker, colored pencil, and ink, though! I happily go by the nicknames Sable, Painted, Jack, or PJ! But I’ll honestly respond to almost anything. I am an adult. I will do my best to tag and censor my posts appropriately whenever necessary, but I do illustrate gore and harsh themes from time to time. If I have a mature warning on a post, heed it. If not for your own sake, then for mine.

This post is for the pieces under the flaps of my big sketchbook spread! :) They are literally all of bikers. Because I have a problem. Net 0 motorcycle in my life. I need to learn to draw motorcycles to cope.

I also censored the gore lol. Last post = full spread with gore (just blood), this one has no gore visible.

A particularly massive spread for this year's Art Fight! Putting a cut before the closeups this time, since there's a lot! Im honestly going to need a second post lol.

I decided to do something a little different this year, and designate my first few attacks to "warming up." Restricted myself to a very maximum of 30 minutes each, and tried my best to vary the materials across what I plan to use most often. This does mean I was focusing a lot more on the material I was using than the style I was drawing in, leading to a lot of texture.

These are going to be a part of a larger sketchbook spread, but they sit on a flap so it's a lot easier to post them like this.

I am older now. Yuck.

Had a friend get SUPER excited about me being born 21 years ago, and went and planned a whole party and invited a bunch of our shared friends. She had this going MONTHS in advance 😭

The only downside to any of this is that my one and only request was to go rollerskating. I did not care if I was alone or if there was a party, I just wanted to be at the rink. This was fine, but majority of our group did NOT know how to skate lol. Im just lucky they all humored me for a couple hours.

First part of my favorite spread in this whole thing. Yet again, there is no telling how many mediums touched this page. I used literally anything and everything that was in front of me to get this done and procrastinate studying for like 3 different cell biology exams. Yes I was working on this that long.

Opossum comic! He is little and has a big dream of being cool like the silly little man in his book :)

This was partially started as comic practice and partially as a repetitive thing to color in to kill time to force myself to not stress about studying. I couldn't even tell you all of the mediums I used on these pages. Inks, watercolor, water marker, alcohol marker, pens, crayons, oil pastels, paints of several kinds..... It was a lot.

Heads up: There is no gore in this part, but there WILL be gore in. like. Part 3? He does not get hurt but he is on a big adventure. Don't look at the tags if you dont want spoilers.

ITS ART FIGHT SEASON AGAIN!!! TEAM TRAGEDY FOR THE WIN!!!!

I'll be doing my best to participate again this year! I don't know if I'll be able to go as hard as previous years due to class and work, but I sure will be trying. Already making my list of characters that will hopefully still be there at the beginning of the game.

As always: I do revenges, friendly fire, and am always open game to give out (+ happy to receive) mass attacks. My artwork is traditional and pretty experimental, so don't always expect the same types of attacks from me.

Another sketchbook spread! Not very cohesive, but it'll do.

Right side is my previous post, left side is just a bunch of random doodles + me acquiring a pet tortrice. His name is Yamaha. Yes, he is named after a motorcycle brand. No, I do not have a problem.

Still thinking about motorcycles. Still thinking about opossums. Still thinking about playing Magic: The Gathering.

School has me very burnt out again, unfortunately. Not a fan of online courses at all. No matter how interesting the information is, the presentation method is just never good enough to keep me motivated. And let's just say that one of the classes I'm in, I find neither interesting nor particularly useful for my personal career goals. PUT ME IN A ROOM PLEASE ;o;

Commemoration artwork for the finale of The Amazing Digital Circus! I wouldn't say there's anything spoiler-ish in here for the actual last episode, but it definitely pulls a bit of inspiration from episode 8 and 9 together.
