I've been playing Paralives since it launched into early access last month, and I've been doing all sorts of things I want to share here. I'm going to be posting what I've created so far after this post, and anything I create in the future will be posted here as well. Caldarus chuffs, his expression alight with wry amusement, but he says nothing as he picks one of the bowls and hands it over. After taking a moment to take in the mouthwatering aroma, Ari takes a bite and has to fight to keep his expression from scrunching. It's very salty — a bit overcooked and soft — and the cheese is definitely burned. He swallows the mouthful and slowly lifts his gaze. Caldarus' lips are pressed together in a clear attempt not to laugh. "This was my seventh attempt," the god says, clearly aware of the issues with the dish. "My sixth attempt included entire uncut onions." Ari can't help but laugh at the thought of Caldarus offering him a bowl of onion soup with whole onions. Bent over his bowl, he giggles until his stomach muscles ache. The mental image is just too ridiculous not to laugh at. The dragon clearly doesn't mind, though, chuckling as well. It takes Ari a while to calm his laughter. It's such a relief to laugh without stress and to release the tension that has built up over the past two hours or so. He ends up giggling for a couple of minutes, and he starts laughing again every time he looks at his bowl of soup. When he finally manages to swallow the last of his laughter, the air feels much lighter. Looking up at the dragon, Ari finds Caldarus watching him with a fond smile. Ari's neck and ears flush with heat, and he quickly averts his gaze. "If you're going to continue your attempts at cooking, I demand that you do not do so unless I am here to supervise. Either that, or you wait until I have written down some recipes for you to work on. Learning to cook is fine, but wasting ingredients on multiple failed dishes is not. So, until you are more aware of the intricacies of cooking, you will not do any cooking without instructions." Caldarus lets out a soft laugh before taking a bite from his own bowl. He speaks after swallowing, "I can agree to that. Though acquiring ingredients to practice my cooking could become an issue." "I can provide you with ingredients from my farm," Ari responds, waving a hand dismissively. "I've been saving about a fifth of my produce for my own needs, so I have a lot that we can use. We're also coming up on the second harvest of the season, so I'll have fresh ingredients available soon."

Duke gasps, pulling in a shuddering breath as clarity washes over him. He finds himself looking at what he realizes, after a moment of staring, is the very entity he had been looking for. It certainly fits the description of a 'large, eel-like creature.' It's bigger than he thought it would be, though, and more humanoid too. He can't see all of it—most of the tail hidden in the dark waters—but the size of its humanoid torso suggests it's pretty fucking big. The entity blinks at him, its large eyes—vivid green and lacking any visible white—set in a smooth, featureless face. Its skin, a muted gray, fades seamlessly into a mane of brilliant white hair that floats gently around its head, almost like it's underwater or lacking gravity. As Duke shifts his gaze downward, he notices that the creature’s shoulders have a scattering of pitch-black scales—smooth and glossy with a soft glow. Bright green gills are carved into the sides of its torso. Its skin darkens the further down he looks, with the scales gradually changing to a pure, pristine white towards the end of its torso, creating a gradient of sorts. It's hard to tell where its torso ends and the tail begins, but he can catch glimpses of the impossibly long, very eel-like tail slipping out from the water. It’s sleek and shiny, a deep black, with glittering white scales along the top edge that resemble stars. The most striking part of the tail, however, is the way the sleek black skin flickers in and out of visibility in large patches, revealing the skeletal structure beneath. Duke can't see much more than that since the creature isn't glowing as much as he expected. That's frustrating. He makes a mental note to have Oracle update that particular bit of information in their files.

Crouched on the edge of another warehouse roof, Duke does another scan of the water, the chill of the night settling around him. As he peers into the darkness, the playful banter of his family—having joined him on the streets twenty minutes ago—crackles through his helmet. Each quip and chuckle momentarily pulls him from the depths of concentration, and he finds solace in the warmth of their presence. "I'm just saying, Baby Bird," Nightwing says, the cheeky grin he's no doubt sporting notable in his voice. "The bedhead they gave Red Robin was spot on. I've seen that exact look on you more times than I can count." "That's not the point!" Red Robin snaps back, sounding like he's running on two hours of sleep and five cups of coffee. "They made me completely unhinged!" "You are unhinged." Spoiler throws in her two cents with a cackle as the sound of flesh hitting flesh filters through her comm line. "Dude, why didn't you try to dodge that? Are you dumb?" "Have you not already figured that out?" Duke can imagine Damian rolling his eyes in contempt. "The highly unsuccessful nature of their criminal endeavors is a clear enough sign of their severe lack of competence. If they possess any level of higher cognitive ability, they are clearly unable to apply it." "Okay, brat–"

Ari wakes up in an unfamiliar environment, confused at being alive and more than a little sore. What exactly happened after he passed out?

Deku is throwing himself at Scruffy before the man even finishes speaking. He catches him easily and pulls him into the warmest of embraces. If the hug is at all uncomfortable for the man, what with the muzzle and all, he doesn't show it. Scruffy's arms wrap around him and hold him tightly. It should feel constricting, like a cage, but it feels like safety instead.

"There, in the corner, on a bloody mattress, is a child. The first glance he'd had of them, they had been curled up in unmoving ball. What he's now realizing are tails had been covering them completely, making it hard to distinguish if they were even human. Now, however, they have uncurled and are on all fours with a low growl rumbling through the room. Their multiple tails are flared out aggressively as they dig their claws into the mattress beneath them. They are wearing a thin hospital gown and have a heavy-duty muzzle strapped to their face. They are also tiny. The child, who looks to probably be male, can't be older than ten, but is certainly small enough to be eight or nine. ---------------- Carefully lowering himself down into a loose crouch, Shouta takes a moment to take in the kid's appearance. Under the muzzle, Shouta can see red markings of some sort; some around his eyes like eyeliner and three curved lines on his cheekbones like whiskers. His eyes are completely green with no visible white and have slit pupils. Two long, black ears poke up out of the mop of ratty forest green hair, and he counts five puffy tails writhing behind the kid. The kid’s legs are covered in dark matted fur. There are more bits of black fur poking out from under the collar of the hospital gown. The kid's appearance reminds him of those fox-like Yokai he sometimes sees on posters and other such things. He mental nicknames the kid 'Kitsune' until he figures out an actual name."
