Hello all!! This is an OC I made for something else entirely, but I’m excited to actually bring her to life here!! I never thought I’d be a part of a pirate rp, so this is super exciting!!
Here’s just a quick backstory on Hera (where she came from, how she ended up where she is, her personality, etc)
BECOMING HERA:
Hera doesn’t know the name she was given at birth because she stolen from her family in the midst of a war and sent off to the caribbean.
Raised as a humble servant girl, named Joanna, in the house of a governor, she was always told to keep her head down, her lips closed, and her legs shut. But she was miserable.
She never played with friends as a child, never knew what it was like to stay out in the evenings. Joanna was a modest and quiet girl.
When she became of marrying age, she felt the sting of men’s wandering eyes. One night, on her way home from the governor’s mansion, she defended herself against a drunk, unruly man.
The next morning, he’d spread word about town that shew as a witch and should be put to death.
She was ordered to drown at sea, but broke free of her own bonds before she hit the water.
A passing pirate ship managed to scoop her up and held her captive until the ship’s captain realized her untapped potential.
She worked to keep her place aboard, but studied the world of the pirates under the care of her captain, who was more like a parent to her than anyone she’d ever known.
When given the chance to make a new name for herself, she remembered the land of her birth, the land she was taken from; thus dawning a surname that is better suited for her.
However, she wanted a first name with strength and power that would ring clear for all to remember; the goddess of all goddesses.... Hera.
THE MIGHTY HERA:
Always the first mate, never the captain. Some mocked her for always being second best, but that’s the way she liked it.
After she left her first crew, she stated her name very loud and clear aboard The Jewel of Antigone, thus taking her place as its first mate.
After all, Hera made sure that every soul she’d crossed remembered the name of the mighty Hera, the last one you’d expect behind the face of a cruel captain.
She intended on becoming a legend... so that’s exactly what she became. Independent, fierce, fun-loving, lenient, but also unforgiving, ruthless, and merciless.
