Hello everyone, I’m Silas (not Captain Silas, mind you!) and this is my little star man Jahandar “Hands” Qasim! He’s a smart one, so watch for his tongue and his tricks. 

☸  Jahandar was born in the Mughal empire to a Muslim trading family. As such, he was given free education in theology, philosophy, languages, arts, sciences, and mathematics. It was at this time that he discovered his fascination with the stars and began to focus on studying astrology. From this came his ability to navigate, and he often uses the stars as guides when on course.

☸  He had never thought that he would be a pirate, and sometimes his mind battles between his desire to survive and thrive – a desire sated by The Merchant’s Mercy and his fellow crew – and his desire to be a good man, which so often seems at odds with his current life.

☸  He can speak Hindi, Arabic, Persian, Dutch, and English – all of which he was taught at a young age through his education and from his merchant family, who traded often with Europeans. In the course of his time as a pirate he has picked up a tiny amount of Spanish, but often butchers it if he tries anything more than a simple hello, goodbye, or a demand for surrender.

☸  He has no love for the English, being cautious of their motives in India and knowing the kingdom mostly from stories told by his fellows – criminals and traitors to the crown.

☸  He does however love his homeland, and if it weren’t for the fear that his family would no longer accept him after so many years, he would return.

☸   In matters of love, Jahandar feels quite torn. His life has changed much since he was a boy and studied the Qur’an and he is certainly no longer a strict Muslim, yet some things have stuck. He does not eat pork, he does not drink, and he fasts through Ramadan and celebrates Eid. He prays sometimes, but not always. When it comes to his love life, Jahandar is what we in modern times would call pansexual. However he feels it would be wrong to have only flings or fucks, and would prefer a long-term relationship or - preferably - a marriage.

☸   He can’t sing to save his life and has been banned from singing along in shanties/chanties.

and he actually joined a ship that was NOT the merchants mercy.. he was on another boat for a few years until that ship was raided 

and whom was it raided by ? The Merchants Mercy ofc. and they were gonna kill him but amos was a part of the crew at that time and pushed them to allow elias to just join their crew

so low and behold , elias becomes a part of the crew and works his way to being the master gunner

which he is definitely .. very skilled in that area . he knows everything and anything about guns, ammunition, the cannons, all of it !

and the gun he carries, which is a doglock pistol, is his fucking baby and he named it rose bc. why not name your gun. like why the fuck not.

he is also just... a fucking menace. always getting in people’s business, acting like the leader of the group (even tho he clearly is not ??) and thinking hes all tough shit.

he likes to make empty threats that he won’t act upon unless u really make him mad 

and honestly. if it wasnt for his skill and role i feel like he would have been forced to walk the plank a long time ago but thats just my humble opinion on my muse!

and what i mean by empty threat is like. if hes getting it on w/ someone he would say he’s gonna throw them off the deck or some shit but. he never actually would mainly because.. this is his new family and. he loves his family :/ unless its his twin, then he’d probably push him over board.

SUMMARY

Sebastian was born in Oxford, the second son of a wealthy judge who’d retired to run his land holdings. Being the second-born of three, Bastian was never meant to inherit the lands his father owned and collected their income from; all of that was to go to his elder brother Nathaniel. So, as was expected, he found a profession in which to make a name for himself, which might even one day allow him to buy lands of his own. Military life suited him best, but rather than go for the Army, Bastian studied and trained for the Royal Navy. With heavy class privileges allowing him a leg up, he made the rank of Lieutenant before he was even thirty years old, and for the last five years has been posted aboard the HMS Sovereign. At least until the Sovereign was attacked by pirates seeking revenge. Bastian doesn’t know all the details about why his ship in particular was attacked, but that hardly mattered at the time. He was proud to do his duty and defend the ship to his last breath. He nearly did, too—the marauding vessel stole a significant advantage over the Sovereign, and in the fight Bastian was thrown overboard.

The pirates hauled him out of the water and took him prisoner, in hopes that a high-ranking officer from a wealthy background might prove useful, either with information or with a tidy ransom. Since he steadfastly refused to provide the former, the pirates brought him to Nassau to be held indefinitely until his family came up with the ransom for him. Sebastian has been in the dungeons of the fort for about a month, watched over by the crew of the Golden Cairn—an ironic situation, since he was once tasked with guarding a captured member of their crew several years back with a very embarrassing outcome.

SUMMARY

Kitty was born on a pirate ship to a woman whose insatiable lust for life and freedom inherently pitted itself against the responsibilities of motherhood. Though she did make an effort for a few years, it was simply too hard and too dangerous to raise a baby at sea, especially on a ship perpetually hunted and warring with others in their waters. So at three years old, Kitty’s mother left her in Nassau, originally handing her off to a supposedly trustworthy friend at the local tavern for safe-keeping. But her mother’s friend has even less interest in being a parent, and Kitty was mostly left to fend for herself under the legs of bar stools and tables. Almost two years later, her mother returned to Nassau, but it wasn’t to stay, or to bring Kitty with her. It was to abandon another unwanted child somewhere the pirate thought would be safe. After all, Kitty was still alive, right?

Barely out of toddlerhood, Kitty became responsible for her half-sibling’s well being, since the man they lived with at the tavern showed no interest in taking care of them. This lead to the young girl digging for scraps and leftovers to feed them both, trying to steal money and other necessities when she could. This is how she was caught by the Fletcher family, English immigrants who’d lived on New Providence Island for two generations and made their living as apothecaries. Rather than punish the starving girl before them, they brought her and her sibling into their home and raised the pair alongside their own children. It took some adjustment, after being neglected and self-sufficient for so long, but Kitty eventually came to love the Fletchers as her own family. They’d done more for her and her sibling than their own wretched pirate mother ever had. As she got older, she learned the Fletchers’ trade, becoming an accomplished apothecary herself and taking up a job in the family’s shop down at the port. Today, she’s well-known in Nassau for offering a willing hand to anyone in need, though her rough past left a wild streak in her that will have her spitting and clawing at others just as soon as running off into the trees to find solace among the plants and earth.

the term most often used to refer to young morrigan is spitfire.  she has to be, to prove herself as worthy of her role as the first mate.  after all, as daughter of the captain, she cannot let the crew think nepotism put her in her place- it didn’t.  if anything, her father is harder on her than the rest of the crew.
