Any Given Day - Diamonds
Artists often depict Óðinn as being this insanely badass warrior man with a huge spear mounting a horse whose eyes are on fire and leading an army of wolves and berserkers into a barren field of undead soldiers who are also on fire but in reality, people who work very close to him will say he’s more like a grandpa who sometimes gives u mint candy for no reason

Prayer to the Allfather
Hear my call, High One,
As you watch over the Einherjar’s hall,
Sitting on your throne
With a raven at each of your sides,
Hand gripping your spear
As the other strokes your wolves.
Hear my plea, Hooded One
For I am sailing foggy waters
And the threads of my fate are hidden from me,
As they are known only to your wife Frigg
And the Norns at the bottom of the holy ash.
When it is lost in a storm,
Won’t you hear your child’s prayer?
When it has lost its way,
Won’t you offer your divine wisdom?
After so many sacrifices made,
Won’t you mercifully ease my pain?
Hear my despair, Wise One,
I am asking you to guide me,
To be the favorable wind which pushes me in the right direction,
To light a torch at the end of my path,
To show me the shape of my Wyrd,
To reveal yourself to me in all your glory.
When there is nothing before me but walls of flame and smoke,
I plea for you to quiet the fires which obstruct my path
And to lead me back from where I have strayed.

🇺🇦 The Helm of Awe / Ægishjálmr 🇺🇦
Some background on the Helm of Awe:
Like most popular “norse” symbols, there’s a lot of ambiguity around the Helm of Awe. It is mentioned in old Norse text like the ‘Poetic Edda’, but no visual description or illustration is given. The symbol we now equate to the Helm of Awe comes from the ‘Huld Manuscript’ a book of Icelandic magical staves, which was written/compiled in 1847—well after the Viking age had ended and Scandinavia had been Christianized.
Its ultimately not possible to be certain that the symbol we use today under the name “the Helm of Awe” is the same one described in old Norse texts, but it’s likely not. Many experts point to the similarities of the Helm of Awe (and the visually similar Vegvísir) to symbols from ‘The Key of Solomon’.
The Helm of Awe—regardless of what it may have originally looked like—is said to be a magical symbol that, when worn (usually on the forehead, between the eyebrows) would give you strength tantamount to invincibility in battle.
"You can't magic away your mental illness and trauma" and "magic can be a great tool to help manage mental illness and trauma" are both true statements. This isn't a black or white issue. Something can be super helpful without being claimed to permanently cure you of suffering.
“You can’t drink water once and be hydrated forever”
“Water is a great tool to stay hydrated throughout your life”

Let’s talk about mental health and witchcraft
So there are many people in the witch community who struggle with various mental health. I have seen some people (mainly on witchtok) saying that you can replace medication with various witchcraft methods like meditation, spells, ect… but for the love of god don’t listen to anyone who says you can replace medication and things that help with mental illness with your witchcraft practices. You can and should be taking your medication if it works for you and if it doesn’t thats an issue for you doctor and you to talk about.
Witchcraft can go hand and hand with modern mental illness care. You should not stop taking your medication and replacing it with witchcraft. There are things you can do that go hand in hand with modern mental health care. Like doing daily practices, meditation, shadow work, spells like self love and joy. Those things can work hand and hand with your medication and mental health care. Medication helps with the chemical imbalances in the brain. Witchcraft dose not.
Do not replace medication with witchcraft!!!!
Can I just take a moment to talk about how much I love studying religion and spirituality? I don't even apply the vast majority of what I learn to my practice as a folk practitioner. I just genuinely love learning about the different beliefs, deities and lifestyles.
Studying different religions and spiritualities is a personal choice, but I feel like anybody who takes part in the occult can benefit from it. Especially those who claim to be "eclectic". UPG is fine and all, but I can never stress how important it is to understand religions and spiritualities through their texts and stories enough. I especially believe that taking the time to learn about different religions and spiritualities can help you avoid appropriating and disrespecting them.
I'll admit that it can be time consuming (and sometimes challenging because of my adhd) but it has been so worth it.

PYROMANCY 101
What is it?
Believed by some historians to be the first ever form of fortunetelling, pyromancy is divination by means of fire.
How does it work?
Pyromancy delivers messages through visions that form in the flames, and through the behavior of the flame itself. In essence, pyromancy is a sibling of scrying and phyllomancy.
Why does it work?
From the reign of paganism to the rule of monotheism, fire has always been treated as sacred.
In Greco-Roman mythology, fire was owned by the gods. When Prometheus gave it to us, he was punished for theft, until Zeus gave Hercules permission to release him from torment.
In the Abrahamic religions, fire signifies God’s presence, as seen in the burning bush story. The Holy Spirit too is visually represented by a tongue of fire over the head of a believer.
In paganism and witchcraft, the practice of nature worship, and even in some modern alternative spiritual paths, fire is one of the four elements. It is Earth’s blessed instrument.
Hence fire is seen as a hallowed, natural conduit towards one’s higher power.
How is it performed?
Since pyromancy developed and was practiced independently in many regions, such as the Roman Empire, Mesopotamia and China, it has many variations. But this is the most common.
Step 1: Light a fire.
It must be as big as a campfire. Create a large surface, from which the visions will appear. It must also be outdoors, so that the wind can interact with it.
Do it at the witching hour, when there is unlikely to be any disturbances, and when the old gods are more eager to listen.
Step 2: Ask a question.
While gazing into the fire, summon your higher power solemnly, and state your question clearly.
Step 3: Burn an object.
Some people cast animal bones or turtle shells into the fire. Others prefer salt or bay leaves.
In my family, we use what is relevant to our query. A box of chocolates when asking about romance. Old test papers when inquiring about an exam.
Step 4: Observe the fire.
If you asked a yes or no question, the flame or smoke rising high means yes; minimal movement means maybe, or it is yet to be written; and steady movement means no.
If you asked a timing question, the flame or smoke rising high means soon; minimal movement means a long time from now; and downward movement means it is not fated to happen.
If you asked about someone’s feelings for you or the possibility of a dream coming true, a lively fire means positive emotions and fulfilled expectations; while calm movement means something lukewarm or uncertain.
Step 5: Wait for visions.
Direct your gaze towards the bottom of the fire. While focusing on your question in your mind, slowly unfocus your eyes. This places you in a trance, inviting the visions to come in.
Your answer could be straightforward, such as a vision of you in a wedding gown, being married to the one you asked about.
Or it could be along metaphorical lines, such as a vision of a huge trophy confirming your academic, athletic or emotional victory.
Step 6: Close the session.
Once you have received your response, thank your higher power, then the element of fire for helping deliver the answer.
Then drown the fire with water.
