The Market NZ and Your Home and Garden are proud to present the five category winners of The Clever Creations Project. Nathan Ingram and Jenna Brown of Haunt took out the Decor section, while Tina O’Sullivan and Tory Simpson of Frankie & Johnny won the Furniture top spot. Irene van der Meer of Petite Stars & Clouds won the Art category, Kim Lawrence of Cupcake Cutie is the top Gifts producer, and the People’s Choice Award went to Sarah Douglas of Douglas Designs. How does it feel to be the winner of your category? We’re excited and extremely grateful! Winning has given us the encouragement and focus to really make this dream a reality. Haunt is a collaboration of love, creativity and style and we can’t wait to share more products with New Zealand and the world. How did you both get started ‘making’? Tina started out making cowhide stools. We talked about doing a project together for a while and decided storage is a priority since we both have three children, hence the under-bed ply storage box/toy box. What product are you creating for The Market NZ? I’m creating reusable vinyl wall graphics for the lounge or bedroom. The graphics look like hanging lamps but are made up of separate parts so you can mix and match the lampshades and cords to find your own design. Tell us a bit about your products… Cupcake Cutie is all about felt fancies and peculiar patterns. My felt taxidermy heads are original designs and I sell both the finished animals and the patterns so people can make their own. My designs are quirky and fun, cute and kitsch. What was the inspiration behind this product? I wanted to explore colour. It’s awesome to see how well the concrete pairs with the pastel colours and creates such a different feel.
