Since a lot of people are interested in the Vessel of Nightwing AU, here are some of my notes about the Kryptonian deity!Nightwing from the source material that inspired the AU in the first place - for reference, inspiration and to use bits and pieces for your own versions if you like! Enjoy :D
Nightwing as portrayed in Action Comics' "Devine spark" storyline (#883-#889)
"Rao-the-father's watchful eyes in the darkness"
Created by Rao to destroy evil that hides in the shadows
"Nightwing exists in the darkness, all-seeing in the deep night, hidden to daylight eyes"
About himself: "Such is my fate and duty, [...] to stand alone in the dark. All-seeing, never seen."
"The Nightwing's mission was the loneliest of all Rao's children."
"But in the border of twilight [...] the Nightwing could be seen"
Calm personality ("stillness and silence")
In the comic he refers to both himself and his host (Chris Kent) as "us". As in, when he talks to Chris, he addresses him as "us". And when he talks about himself, he refers to himself as "us". Like they're one entity. He does, however, know they're not the same being.
About knowledge and darkness:
"But here in the dark no secrets can hide from me. Here in the shadows... I hear everything."
"Imagine drowning in a sea of hidden knowledge. Every secret desire. Every black thought. Learning secrets poses no difficulty. Keeping such knowledge from being overwhelming is the challenge."
"I am Rao-the-father's eyes in the night. I am the keeper of his secret knowledge. And knowledge is power."
"Here in the dark... I know all."
Relationship with his host (Chris Kent) and other people:
"My host is awash in confusion. Struggling against the tide of bottomless information. He must know himself, and unleash the power of that knowledge. If we are to prevail, he must calm himself.
His adoptive mother will surely know how to do that."
^ the Nightwing very much does not look down on people. He joins forces with other superheroes, addresses them by their hero names, protects them. And knows that when Chris struggles with his power, the best way to solve that is to let him talk to his adoptive mom (Lois Lane). Nightwing addresses her with respect:
"Do not be afraid, Mother-of-my-host. We are unharmed."
Chris, about how the Nightwing's power feels: "It's like I can hear and see everything. Not like a Kryptonian would. It's bigger somehow. I feel like there's a piece of me everywhere... That i can be everywhere..."
I'll also add some of the panels of the final battle of the arc - there's a lot of Nightwing's internal monologue (black boxes), which are good at establishing his general vibes: insightfulness, respect for Chris for his bravery and for protecting others, knowledge of Chris' physical limits, Nightwing's compassion both for his allies and the arc's villain (Vohc, another one of Rao's children, driven mad by grief, trying to unmake reality in revenge).
Also, since it's pretty significant in the story - Rao is not big on void and nothingness - so while the Nightwing cannot be seen in the darknes, he definitely has a noticeable presence.
