non-muslim white: [treats a muslim like a normal human being] western media: THIS WILL BREAK YOUR HEART. FAITH IN HUMANITY RESTORED 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

"It's not Jazz, it's Black Classical Music." - Nina Simone I love this. We have a horrible habit of ignoring the grandmothers and grandfathers of true American artistry, most of whom are Black. It's more than just singers and songwriters, but dancers, actresses, poets, and photographers. As non-Black POCs, it's imperative that we remind ourselves of this because so often, we drink from the fountain of Blackness to stand out or we stain the waters to "fit in."

All of these are true and actually happened. One study even showed that people think black people are magical. Really.
when they cut black women open on tables wide awake because they thought they were animals that didn’t feel pain like humans.
Matt Damon’s newest movie! :^)
I love how jolly, middle-class white folks are so willing to learn the latest hip-hop dance craze, like the whip, nae nae or the shmoney, but are too impatient and stubborn to educate themselves on white privilege and cultural appropriation. The only moves you have are your sly dances around reality
**Why Do White People Think They’re Better Than People of Color?** *The Sneaky Dynamics of White Supremacy* Whenever I talk about white supremacy there is always a white person or fifty who thinks they are dismissed from white privilege because they’ve had a tough life. “I grew up poor so I don’t have white privilege!” “My best friends are Black and I don’t see myself as better than them!” I’ll sit here and watch as they flail their limbs in a puddle of flawed logic trying to find a way to prove how average and non-threatening they are. They talk about jobs they weren’t hired for, their low-income upbringing and that one time they walked five miles down the road to grab a snickers. Basically, they try really hard to show that they didn’t receive any societal freebees because of their race. They look for instances when hiring managers looked at their white face and hired them on the spot, or professors who gave them a few extra points on a math quiz, realize that it never happened and conclude that they don’t benefit from white privilege. But that, my friends, is NOT how white supremacy works. Instead of UPLIFTING white people, white supremacy is established by PUSHING DOWN on people of color. How does this work? Well, think about it. No one has to tell white people that their neighborhoods and schools and inventions and physical features are BETTER, they just need to say that Black neighborhoods and Latino populated schools and Asian inventions are WORSE. When you establish anything POC as weird, ghetto, foreign or inferior, you AUTOMATICALLY position WHITENESS as a middle ground where normalcy exists and excellence can flourish. This toxin comes in a variety of flavors: ALL WHITE schools are seen as better through the degradation of HBCUs as the “ghetto” option. ALL WHITE movies with ALL WHITE actors are viewed as normal while POC movies are criticized as being “low budget.” WHITE physical features are praised not because of their aesthetics, but because they aren’t kinky or slanted or brown. With this method, not only do you UPLIFT white communities by oppressing POCs, you also create a situation where no one can accuse you of self-inflating your own ego. It’s a sneaky, disgusting method of establishing supremacy but it has worked for a very, very long time. You can crawl out of a darkened room by climbing the walls yourself, or you can use the heads of POCs as a stepping stool.
THIS is what gets me banned for three days? Gotcha. I'll be sure to blur out and protect the names of racist white people who send me hate mail. Thanks White Facebook! ^____^

How Emma Stone Became Asian: What It Means When Hollywood Continues To Whitewash
As a person of color, I've learned to expect a certain level of whitewashing from Hollywood. Jake Gyllenhaal as The Prince of Persia? Dude, wtf? Random white dude as Goku -- wow, WOW, take it easy, buddy!
And yet, Hollywood execs surprised us with yet another bottle of fuckery by casting Emma Stone as Allison Ng, a character described as a quarter Hawaiian and a quarter Chinese. Let me lean in closer so I can say that again:
Emma Stone, a blonde haired, blue eyed WHITE WOMAN, was chosen to portray an ASIAN-HAWAIIAN PERSON with an Asian last name. I don't approve of whitewashing, especially when Asian characters get swapped with white ones (see: Ghost in the Shell), but this is a new level of lazy bullshit. How can you go 80% of the way, write a script ABOUT AN ASIAN PERSON but not cast an Asian actress? That's like making a movie about the Jackson 5 set in the 1960s but casting Honey Boo Boo as Tito and a ham sandwich as Michael -- did you even try, bro?!
Hollywood continues to whitewash because white folks don't see ethnicity as an IDENTITY. They don't believe race and ethnicity can effect your opportunities and personality in real life, or in a fictional movie. Instead, race is treated like a COSTUME you steal from one person and give to another. In fact, white culture has ALWAYS taken ethnic labels and slapped them onto white products.
We needed more R&B artists so we slapped a label on Justin Timberlake. We lacked diversity in the workplace so we made a category called "White Latinos."
And yet, when they do consider our ethnicity it's used in a way to exploit us: to paint us as uneducated thugs, awkward math nerds, and illegal immigrants. They never meet us half-way and write a script about normal ass POCs, acting as if we're either born into our designated stereotype or we're colorblind.
If you wanna know how white folks feel truly feel about us, take a look at ANY Hollywood movie and observe the POC characters. When white men were at their peak of Black male intimidation, they made 'Mandingo' and 'Birth of a Nation.' When they were afraid of Asians, they filmed 'Fu Manchu' and 'The Interview.'
If we can accept the writings of Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston as expressions of Black thought, why aren't we accepting racist Hollywood films as expressions of white ones?
Think about it.
nazism is illegal in germany. using nazi greetings and flying nazi flags is illegal in germany. why isnt the kkk unconstitutional in america. why arent white hoods and white supremacist propaganda illegal here. why.
Because germany is ashamed of their bigotry. America is proud of it.
Shoutout to the black autistic people who are in even bigger danger of police brutality than other black people due to the intersection of ableism and racism. Shout out to the black autistic people who have trouble processing verbal information, who lash out when touched, who run away from loud sounds, who are non-verbal, who have body language and stims that could be considered odd or threatening. Shoutout to the black autistic people who act, express themselves and react in ways that are considered socially inappropriate and who are in danger because of it. May you all be safe. Your lives matter.
Never thought of it that way. Truly eye opening, thank you.

THAT AWKWARD MOMENT when you realize white people cried more when Patrick Dempsey died on Grey's Anatomy than when Michael Brown died in real life.
Yes, This is Much Worse Than Racism: Where Hatred Ends, Thoughts of Murder Begin
I have a favor to ask. A very big, demanding favor that I have never asked before and I hope I will never have to ask in the future:
I want you to, for just a moment, read what I'm about to write WITHOUT thinking about race. Okay? Cool.
Over the past three years since the death of Trayvon Martin, there has been no shortage of racist tweets. Racial slurs here, deflection there - it's a complete and utter mess. But what really strikes me as peculiar are the sheer numbers of folks who are ELATED by the notion of someone being shot to death.
"Trayvon deserved to die! That's one less thug on our streets!" "Mike Brown was a typical n****r and I'm glad he got shot!"
Now think about it. REALLY, truly visualize what that means when someone says that. This isn't a random thing you say during small chit-chat by the water cooler. I mean this is a dark, sadistic, and evil thing to say. Quite frankly, most people would be scared to say it out loud. Shit, you wouldn't even feel safe writing it in your personal diary for fear of someone finding it and accusing you of malicious thoughts.
And yet, there are so many white people saying this exact same thing: Black people are dying... and I don't care.
Let's be explicit: we are talking about death. We are talking about internal bleeding, suffocation, and cold-blooded murder. We are discussing humans, laying on the concrete, blood gushing from out their mouth, trickling down their eyeballs, taking in their final breath and you wanna say that you're GLAD? You're happy about someone dying? When is it EVER okay to be happy when someone dies? When is it EVER okay to LITERALLY wish death upon someone and feel overjoyed when it happens?
Sure, we say things like, "omg, you ate my hot pocket! I'm gonna kill you!" but this is NOT the same. There is no humor or sarcasm when people say that Mike Brown deserved to be murdered. And so now, I start to wonder: if we take off our racism goggles for just a second and look at it from the simple perspective of human death, murder and the value of life... you start to see things in a much more grim and macabre fashion.
When I do this, I imagine a group of 17 year old white kids hovering over a bloody black body, spitting on the corpse saying, "good... you deserved it" and I can't help but feel disgusted. Why aren't we addressing this? Why aren't we throwing these kids in an asylum for saying this shit?
This doesn't sit well with me...
