do other countries do the whole âleaving furniture you want gone on the curb for other people to just grabâ or is that an american thing
The Dutch do it and it's called The King's Gift, but when Brits do it, taking the stuff is actually a crime called, wait for it, Theft By Finding.
Aussies call it Hard Rubbish and have set times for whole neighbourhoods to do it so you can spend a weekend just wandering around claiming stuff!
At least my first three sharehouses were furnished this way.
people will say âtheyâre only friendsâ and then show me two people who would crawl through broken glass to hear the other laugh once. two people who have memorized each otherâs coffee orders, fears, childhood stories, and emergency contacts. two people who would haunt each otherâs houses as ghosts. be serious.
Just an FYIâthe original intention of this post was to challenge the way people say only friends, as though friendship is somehow lesser than other forms of love. As if being deeply known, cherished, and chosen by another person could ever be a small thing. Normalize profound platonic love. Some of the most fulfilling, transformative, and enduring relationships we will ever have are friendships. đŤśđź
ââJustâ friendship? A poor modifier for so high and honorable a state.â
I endorse this message with my whole damn chest.
My best friends taught me what healthy, loving, reciprocal relationships look like. We raised each other. Hell, they ARE my emergency contacts. I would not be the person I am today without their love and guidance, nor would I want to be. Theyâll never be a âjustâ.

all i want for 2026 is that gigantic rancid AI bubble to finally burst in such a catastrophic way that the consequences will be so good and i'll never have to see another AI generated image ever again

gentle reminder that if u feel hungry soon after eating, it might be bc youâre eating mostly carbs without adding enough protein. try eating a handful of nuts or smthing alongside your next meal.
and you donât have to change the recipe or anything! you can eat what you were going to, just add some cheese cubes or a handful of nuts or salami slices on the side. u donât have to change your meals, just add a little extra protein
thats nice but what do I need to do If I wake up around 3 am every other night with an unquenchable hunger for flesh even tho I ate normal balanced meals trough the day?
spoonful of peanut butter

hot take possibly? but i actually think itâs okay for things to be marketed for adults. itâs literally okay if things arenât suitable for children. i feel like we are losing the plot
I feel like if people actually wanted things to be "suitable" for children we wouldn't see so many third spaces for kids and teens disappearing. And we'd see more things actually, I don't know, geared towards children. But instead we're in a society that creates things children theoretically could do but would never want to do, because the point is to create adults whose critical thinking is never challenged with complexities. It was never actually about the children.
I feel like this has created its own weird vicious cycle where children feel the pressure to become little adults with mature interests because theyâre being pointed towards content that isnât actually designed for them despite being âsuitableâ.
This is then is simultaneously being used as proof that kids are growing up too fast so we therefore have to ensure ALL content is suitable for children.
Itâs lose-lose in all aspects.
I know for a fact they are biting tf out of each other
People accusing Christopher Nolan of making The Odyssey âwokeâ for including an actor like Elliot Page is very telling to me, because at no point in the film is Pageâs character stated to be trans in-universe. We see flashbacks of his character as a child and by all accounts, Sinon is meant to have been a cis boy in the narrative of the film.
Which makes it clear that detractors arenât upset at the idea of Nolan including a trans character in the filmâhe didnâtâbut that theyâre upset at the idea of a trans person existing in real life.

Caitlin Moranâs posthumous advice for her daughter
WRITTEN BYÂ Caitlin Moran
Published at 12:11PM, July 13 2013
The Times
âNine times out of ten, you probably arenât having a full-on nervous breakdown â you just need a cup of tea and a biscuitâ
My daughter is about to turn 13 and Iâve been smoking a lot recently, and so â in the wee small hours, when my lungs feel like thereâs a small mouse inside them, scratching to get out â Iâve thought about writing her one of those âNow Iâm Dead, Hereâs My Letter Of Advice For You To Consult As You Continue Your Now Motherless Lifeâ letters. Hereâs the first draft. Might tweak it a bit later. When Iâve had another fag.
âDear Lizzie. Hello, itâs Mummy. Iâm dead. Sorry about that. I hope the funeral was good â did Daddy play Donât Stop Me Now by Queen when my coffin went into the cremator? I hope everyone sang along and did air guitar, as I stipulated. And wore the stick-on Freddie Mercury moustaches, as I ordered in the âMy Funeral Planâ document thatâs been pinned on the fridge since 2008, when I had that extremely self-pitying cold.
âLook â here are a couple of things Iâve learnt on the way that you might find useful in the coming years. Itâs not an exhaustive list, but itâs a good start. Also, Iâve left you loads of life-insurance money â so go hog wild on eBay on those second-hand vintage dresses you like. You have always looked beautiful in them. You have always looked beautiful.
âThe main thing is just to try to be nice. You already are â so lovely I burst, darling â and so I want you to hang on to that and never let it go. Keep slowly turning it up, like a dimmer switch, whenever you can. Just resolve to shine, constantly and steadily, like a warm lamp in the corner, and people will want to move towards you in order to feel happy, and to read things more clearly. You will be bright and constant in a world of dark and flux, and this will save you the anxiety of other, ultimately less satisfying things like âbeing coolâ, âbeing more successful than everyone elseâ and âbeing very thinâ.
âSecond, always remember that, nine times out of ten, you probably arenât having a full-on nervous breakdown â you just need a cup of tea and a biscuit. Youâd be amazed how easily and repeatedly you can confuse the two. Get a big biscuit tin.
âThree â always pick up worms off the pavement and put them on the grass. Theyâre having a bad day, and theyâre good for⌠the earth or something (ask Daddy more about this; am a bit sketchy).
âFour: choose your friends because you feel most like yourself around them, because the jokes are easy and you feel like youâre in your best outfit when youâre with them, even though youâre just in a T-shirt. Never love someone whom you think you need to mend â or who makes you feel like you should be mended. There are boys out there who look for shining girls; they will stand next to you and say quiet things in your ear that only you can hear and that will slowly drain the joy out of your heart. The books about vampires are true, baby. Drive a stake through their hearts and run away.
âStay at peace with your body. While itâs healthy, never think of it as a problem or a failure. Pat your legs occasionally and thank them for being able to run. Put your hands on your belly and enjoy how soft and warm you are â marvel over the world turning over within, the brilliant meat clockwork, as I did when you were inside me and I dreamt of you every night.
âWhenever you canât think of something to say in a conversation, ask people questions instead. Even if youâre next to a man who collects pre-Seventies screws and bolts, you will probably never have another opportunity to find out so much about pre-Seventies screws and bolts, and you never know when it will be useful.
âThis segues into the next tip: life divides into AMAZING ENJOYABLE TIMES and APPALLING EXPERIENCES THAT WILL MAKE FUTURE AMAZING ANECDOTES. However awful, you can get through any experience if you imagine yourself, in the future, telling your friends about it as they scream, with increasing disbelief, âNO! NO!â Even when Jesus was on the cross, I bet He was thinking, âWhen I rise in three days, the disciples arenât going to believe this when I tell them about it.â
âBabyiest, see as many sunrises and sunsets as you can. Run across roads to smell fat roses. Always believe you can change the world â even if itâs only a tiny bit, because every tiny bit needed someone who changed it. Think of yourself as a silver rocket â use loud music as your fuel; books like maps and co-ordinates for how to get there. Host extravagantly, love constantly, dance in comfortable shoes, talk to Daddy and Nancy about me every day and never, ever start smoking. Itâs like buying a fun baby dragon that will grow and eventually burn down your f***ing house.
âLove, Mummy.â
i love when ppl say âthatâs so youâ it feels good to know i exist and have a vibe
