“Let the wind blow away the bad thoughts…” 🌬🌙
“Faith is a state of openness or trust… In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe, becomes a person who has no faith at all. Instead they are holding tight. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to the truth, whatever it might turn out to be.”
— Shunryu Suzuki
Essential Teachings of Sri Shankaracharya.
A post for the birth celebrations of Sri Adi-Shankaracharya (788-820CE) the greatest teacher of Vedanta philosophy. The sādhana pañcakam is his classic text on spiritual practice ~
1. Study spiritual texts (“Vedas”) regularly and put into practice their teachings. Worship the Divine in that manner and give up the thought of desires. Wash away the negative habit-energy and examine the defects of worldly excitement. Hold on to the awareness of the Atman and leave at once your own limited identity.
2. Remain in the company of the holy (thoughts, words, deeds; books, music, art; people) and strengthen your devotion to God. Cultivate the qualities such as self-restraint and give up all work prompted by selfish desire. Approach those who are wise and holy, and serve them. Seek only the Imperishable Being (“God”) and hear the words of the scripture.
3. Reflect over the meaning of the scripture and take refuge in its perspective. Keep away from vain arguments and follow the reasoning of the scripture. Always be aware that you are Brahman and completely give up all egoism. Eliminate the thought of “I” connected with the body and don’t argue with the wise ones.
4. Through the daily medicine of alms, treat the disease of hunger. Don’t hanker after delicious food; be contented with whatever comes of its own. Forbear the polarities such as cold and heat and do not utter useless words. Do not expect kindness from others and abandon all harshness toward others.
5. Live happily in solitude and focus the mind on the God. See carefully the infinite Self and notice how it eliminates this fleeting existence called the world. Through the power of consciousness, dissolve your past karma, remain unaffected by your later karma, and experience your present karma. In this way, remain established in the awareness of the Supreme Self.

“If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to.”
Lao Tzu
Accidental renaissance
“ When I get lonely these days, I think: So BE lonely.
Learn your way around loneliness.
Make a map of it.
Sit with it, for once in your life. Welcome to the human experience.
But never again use another person’s body or emotions as a scratching post for your own unfulfilled yearnings. “
- Elizabeth Gilbert
I'd like Tumblr staff to know that I DO NOT wish to see pornography. Of any kind. Please.
This keeps happening, and I just can't dodge it.
I get frustrated everytime I come here.

You don’t have to transcend something that you have no interest in…it may come but it finds no food.

Desaparecer.
I'm a couple driven kind of person.
I can be going through hunger, but I'm fine if my love relationship is fine.
My hobby is watching, reading or contemplating couples, I like to see them grow and reach stillness together.
I dislike break-ups, and I also don't like when they betray one another's feelings and stuff like that.
An old-school kind of couple lover.
Every time I had to break up, it was hard. For me. And everytime I broke up, I though to myself "oh well time time to become a monk". And I'm dead serious.
Sadness came along every single time.
Loneliness too.
And so did a feeling of not being complete.
Now I'm in a incredibly well stablished relationship, for four years, and I believe I finally get to have my "Happily Ever After".
But the funny thing is that I also realized I don't have to be alone to work in myself as a very dedicated homeschooled lone-learner monk(ess?)
Away with the jokes, there's one important thing that we must learn about couples. And never forget.
Whoever your partner is, just know that he's there. And you're there. It seems obvious, but we forget what the consequences of this are.
You are there. You are not your partner, and so he is not you. What you want may differ from what he/she wants.
Your partner is there. For you, with you. They can and will help you, but won't be you. Be considerate and do what you alone can do.
You two are together. And two are better than one. But two separate ones are just annoying to each other.
It's simple and obvious. But lots of people don't know any of this.
And it took me years to figure this out.
It seems that the more you grow, the less people care about you.
Even if you started out with about three to four people you care in your life, get ready for that number to narrow down.
They will judge, betray, envy, indulge your spoils and laugh at your disgrace.
Your misfortune will be their dessert on special dinners.
They'll be mean to you just cause.
Kick you out when you're just not profitable anymore.
When you need, they'll be too bussy to care.
And with age, it only gets harder. Like a pimple. You are left there while you can leave a wound if they take you off, but they'll trash you as soon as you've "matured".
You can either care or not about it though.
The same way you are not the life you live, also no one can be who you are.
So what can I say.
Get dissapointed. Get stressed out. Go cry in your bed when you get home. Fight them if you will. Sometimes, leave those who really just don't like you anymore. It's alright because even if it gets tougher each day, life is there to be lived. And you're the only one who can do that.
It sounds cliche, but you only have one life to live. So why not?
We tend to think that things are permanent. Relationships. Houses. Jobs. Things. Well it's really not. But it can be, while you're still alive.
Isn't it wonderful?
You're alive! That means you can do stuff. Just gotta make it happen you know?
And about the others? Well I don't know, maybe they just don't matter really.
Now that I think about it, I feel pretty amazing being me.
My forces are restored. I'm ready to meet people's insensibility again. Mine too.
Good night.
Dalip Singh, the last Maharaja of the Sikh Empire.
After their first meeting, the Queen Victoria described the young Maharaja in her journal as “16 & extremely handsome… [he] has a pretty, graceful & dignified manner. He was beautifully dressed & covered with diamonds”.

I didn’t know there was something missing until I found you. It was like stumbling upon an unharmed sand dollar after spending a lifetime collecting broken bits of sea glass. We are a perfect accident brought together by the ebb and flow of fate’s turquoise tides.
