βDo my eyes deceive me?β The Chinese language rolled off his tongue, fluent and native. Yet his quicken footsteps were louder. He was overwhelmed with joy for the first time in a very very long time. Had he been away so long? βZhongli!β He wrapped his arms around his son, lifting him off the floor like he was a child still and twirling him around as he hugged him. βYou have grown! Iβm sorry I missed your birthday; did you get my present though?β He hoped the nice and expensive car reached him in one peice. βHow is your mother? Did she not come with you?β
It was true that it had been many years since he last saw his father. At the very least, physically and face-to-face, but that did not mean that Zhongli had not been allowed to see him through videos or pictures. It wasnβt that he never wanted to visit his father, either. He simply never saw a chance to fly out and visit. Then again, he could have done the same, right?Β The majority of the time, Zhongli simply assumed there were problems in the marriage of his parents. Perhaps they got into a feud in which they wished not to see each other, or they had both been too wrapped up in their own projects.Β
βFather, he-β The young vampire didnβt even get a chance to spill out any other words as his father rushed to pull him into an embrace. It happened so quick, he didnβt even get much of a chance to react as he was lifted off his feet. Zhongli let out a chuckle, the edges of his lips curving upwards into a smile.Β βYour gift was very hard to miss, and I quite enjoyed it.β He pulled away from their embrace, offering a small bow of his head.Β βI know Iβve thanked you for it before, but Iβd like to thank you again.β As a Huang, the world was truly at his feet. Well, almost all of it. He shook his head at the mention of his mother, shoving his hands in his pockets.Β βSheβs been... busy. Iβm not so sure when she will come.β He was tempted to question if their relationship had been well, but instead, he bit his tongue, clearing his throat in an attempt to stir from the subject.Β βSo, will you be giving me a grand tour?β
