They barely have time to step out of the car before their wife is throwing herself into their arms. A soft laugh, amused with her animated greeting, pulls from their chest with a warmth of home to it. Ace hates leaving as often as they do, staying away for so long while working. Saving the world. Sometimes Ace wonders if it's all worth it, if saving the collective is better than protecting their world right here.

"Shush, Lilja. I'm home now." A gentle hand cards through her hair, fingers sliding between dark strands with practiced ease. Ace doesn't worry about the neighbors. Living in such an exclusive neighborhood leaves plenty of privacy. It's easy to sell the story that Ace travels constantly for work, though the couple have never once gone into detail about what work is it that they do. It helps when most humans are selfish, caring little these modern days of the neighbors and more of their own stories.

"I missed you too." Words are whispered into her hair, lips pressed softly against her in lingering kiss. They stay like this for a while, slowly rocking side to side as Malee and Ace embrace each other. Heartbeats pass before the elder immortal pulls back slightly, one hand coming to rest on their wife's cheek and brushing at the soft skin. "What do you want for dinner? And have you spoken with Fianna? Will they be joining us for dinner too?"

carnage is nothing new to them, it's simply a way of life for the god. never before have they cared about another person so deeply to enact such destruction on their behalf. when they turn to look for malee (@hersilver), they watch helplessly as the black fog consumes her. knowing exactly what took the pureblood vampire, ace starts on a mission to return their soulmate home.

ace, like the entity, is an ancient one. one of the original ones, just as she is. for eons the two co-existed with an agreement to never interfere in each other's worlds. when malee is taken ace considers that contract broken and rips their way into the realms.

consumed with the need to rescue the vampire, they begin searching ever realm for her. their mission is all that matters and time begins to feel wrong, as if it's moving too fast and not fast enough all at once. trials come and go, ace slipping into trials as another survivor. time feels too infinite. immune to the entity's total power, the god continues their search for malee.

when they're about to give up hope that malee has been sacrificed, ace finds her. the stench of death lingers on her, clings to her as her only safety. she hasn't been a survivor, ace had gotten that wrong. the woman they love is one of the killers, a puppet of the entity. heartbroken and angry, the god rips the realm apart to take malee home but the entity was ready for it, planned on that even. instead of saving her, ace is taunted with her presence one last time and both are ripped apart once again into different realms.

this time ace doesn't wake up next to others, no one else is around them. the entity attempts to strike a bargain with ace: "kill for me, in her place, and i will let her go." desperate to save her, ace takes the deal but they know she's lying. so they wait. they kill without mercy. they plan. the day will come soon when ace will kill the entity, they will kill the other ancient one with their bare hands.
