They barely have time to step out of the car before their wife is throwing herself into their arms. A soft laugh, amused with her animated greeting, pulls from their chest with a warmth of home to it. Ace hates leaving as often as they do, staying away for so long while working. Saving the world. Sometimes Ace wonders if it's all worth it, if saving the collective is better than protecting their world right here.
"Shush, Lilja. I'm home now." A gentle hand cards through her hair, fingers sliding between dark strands with practiced ease. Ace doesn't worry about the neighbors.
