You CANNOT serve from an empty vessel but go off I guess
OP what does this mean?
When your friends are hungry, you cannot serve them from an empty breadbasket, no matter how good your intentions. When they're thirsty, you cannot serve them from an empty pitcher, no matter the effort you put in.
We have to stock ourselves with good things before we are able to give them away, and if we are too exhausted to make bread, we must rest before we can make it to serve our friends. If we are too hungry to serve, we must eat some bread ourselves first.
It's a metaphor for emotional exhaustion. When we wear ourselves down it makes it difficult or impossible to help the people around us, and all the effort and good intentions in the world can't make up for the fact that our vessels are empty. It's hard to not want to serve when our friends are in trouble, but trying to serve from an empty vessel often leaves both of you floundering.
On the contrary, when we care for ourselves and are kind to our body and mind, we are full vessels, and serving the people around us becomes easier. That's why it's important to take time for ourselves once in a while, to refill ourselves with good things.
You can't give what you don't have.
Fun History Fact: The overwhelming majority of cowboys in the U.S. were Indigenous, Black, and/or Mexican persons. The omnipresent white cowboy is a Hollywood studio concoction meant to uphold the mythology of white masculinity.
Thank you.
I will always re-blog this
I think it was high school when i overheard some white girl put on her best semi-disgusted and confused voice and go âwhy do so many Mexicans dress up like cowboys?â and I had to be the person to tell her.
Why do you think the whites say buckero? Cause they couldnât say vaquero.
I dunno if I reblogged this before but fuck it, y'all gon learn today.
Teach the children.
also, cowboy culture was hella gay. like, write-poems-about-your-cowboy-partner gay.
IF people acknowledge it, they play the necessity cardâ there werenât any women out on the range, so they had to âresort to men.â this claim completely erases 1) the romantic (not just sexual) writings of actual cowboys, 2) the acknowledgement of cowboysâ potential homosexual activity by writers at the time, and 3) the possibility that some men would deliberately become cowboys with the intent to seek out homosexual encounters.
no one wants to admit it, but cowboy culture was just. so inherently gay.
Im here for the gay POC cowboys
Snowing at sea
Why do I never think about the possibility of snow on the ocean??? Now I see why, because itâs too ethereal
honestly, why does jkr think harry âptsdâ potter is gonna immediately settle down in to a long term relationship with someone heâs known since he was 12 and itâs all going to work out perfectly fine and heâs not going to be restless and unhappy and irritable which are all traits we have seen of him. let ginny realize sheâs into luna lovegood and let harry have several years of living in a cottage in the woods away from everything so he can find peace again and then let harry become, ding ding ding, a professor at hogwarts because heâs better at teaching than anything else and him wanting to be an auror at fifteen is like wanting to be a firefighter as a kid

I lost my gender inâŚthe accident.
I was trying to roll my gender back in my head just for fun, but my mom said âdonât do that with your gender, itâll get stuck like that!â And you know what? I didnât listen, she was right.

I left my gender in my jeans pocket when I put them in the wash. It came out all crumpled and broken so I had to throw it away.
Dropped my gender in 2012 and it rolled into a storm drain

A highway man assailed my carriage. He demanded âyour gender or your lifeâ and well, I am alive.
Sold my gender to satan for a corn chip

Jenna Marbles has this series on her channel where she reacts to memes of herself that fans have made and she doesnât make any money off them she does it to show her appreciation to her fans who make them because she knows they donât make any money either also thereâs someone in Russia that reuploads her videos in full and they dub them over in Russian and not only does Jenna know about this she thinks itâs cool that someone would take the time to do that and she refuses to copyright any of them and she is very wary of making any merch because the last company that she tried to work with straight up stole one of her fanâs artwork and now she doesnât trust any merch company and I think thatâs so awesome whoâs like that on YouTube anymore? someone that is aware that the people who watch their videos are the reason they have been successful and who still makes content to entertain those people not just get their money brava
I was watching an episode just the other day where they went to get their new dog, Bunny. And in the car Jenna says like âwe are not going to record in the foster parents home (where they are picking up Bunny) because itâs not cool/polite to do thatâ and I literally had like A Moment, because when does anyone on youtube NOT just do what they want and fuck everybody else?
Jenna Marbles is the Internet that I signed up for.
Fanfiction is becoming peopleâs primary form of entertainment right now because most media right now is so cheap, bland, recycled, and sponsored by people who love money more than the source material. Fanfiction is written for free by people who genuinely love what theyâre writing about. Thatâs why itâs better. Thatâs why itâs more satisfying. Fanfiction is a home-cooked meal made for yourself and for your friends. Media today is junky fast food spoiled by too much grease and the knowledge that the people producing it are being criminally mistreated and underpaid.Â
Snorkmaiden: idk I just feel a lot of pressure to be beautiful you know
Too ticky, carving a little wooden duck: the constraints of femininity are a prison meant to cage women and play to the Male Gaze, one must transcend these ideals of male fantasies in order to banish not only the oppressive constructs of transphobia, lesbophobia, and misogyny but also to truly learn ones own happiness while navigating womanhood you must thoroughly question your relationship to femininity and why beauty must contribute to your life
Snorkmaiden, nodding sagely: the patriarchy must be dismantled brick by brick
q: how are u so hot and talented?
a: *hands them my business card which is actually a real fresh strawberry*

A brief history of Neopronouns
âThon / Thons / Thonselfâ were created by Charles Crozat Converse all the way back in 1858 as a gender neutral pronoun. It appeared in the Merriam-Webster dictonary between 1934-1961 but was eventually dropped because of a lack of use. (Source:Â https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/third-person-gender-neutral-pronoun-thon)
In the 1967 novel Woman on the Edge of Time the author, Marge Piercy, uses âPer / Pers / Perselfâ pronouns. (Source:Â https://medium.com/@JessieRaeFisher/on-neopronouns-eec46705c5dc)
The pronouns âEy / Em / Eirâ were created in 1975 by Christine M. Elverson. It was designed to be used as a âtransgender pronounâ (Source:Â http://research.cristanwilliams.com/2012/02/24/1975-transgender-cross-gender/)
âHu / Hum / Husâ was used in several college humanities books and was created by editor Sasha Newborn in 1982. (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-person_pronoun#Transgender_pronouns, there is also a lot of other neopronouns covered on this page if youâre intrested)
So, Neopronouns are not a new thing by any means. But why are they only getting attention now? Simple. Because LGBTQ+ culture in general is finally getting more respect and attention. Now that we, as a community, are finally begining to get more respect and more people can accept their identities, more and more people are beginning to learn about neopronouns and use them. And I personally think thatâs a pretty great thing.
Its getting attention now because weâre all connected on the internet in the age of information too! The huge changes that weâre seeing in our communities are only possible because we can all reach each other at the click of a mouse! Now more than ever people with vastly different identities can talk to each other and share ideas that our elders have probably been thinking of in a variety of ways but have been unable to share anywhere since the 1800s!! This sharing of ideas allows us to create and spread around everything from political candidates who will look out for us to brand new words that we ourselves invented, at a rate that has NEVER been possible before. Even in the 2000s, the user-based internet was still in its infancy and most people didnt have a computer - especially LGBTQ youth - which you NEEDED to connect to the internet.
Nowadays most of us at least have a smartphone, most specifically kids aged 13+. Theyve NEVER had a voice in this community before!! EVER!!!! Nobody listens to kids, we ALL know this! Historically LGBTQ gatherings have been after hours at bars, and our community has been kept hidden in the shadows by cishets from children for generations.
For the first time in LGBTQ HISTORY, our communityâs voice includes people of nearly every race/ethnicity, religion, gender, sex, age, social upbringing, disability, and just about any other demographic you could think of (Im a little brain foggy and it took me ten minutes to think of just those lol). We are all CONNECTED and the one of the biggest desires any of us have as humans is to share our ideas with the world and for the first time WE CAN!!!!!!!
To be honest I think it has more to do with the internet than it does with our community getting respect and attention. We wouldnt be getting respect and attention if we hadnt connected on the internet and collectively screamed that we existed!
a lot of the time itâs more enjoyable to watch something thatâs a bit campy a bit gauche a bit cringey a bit low budget where you can tell that the people who made it are passionate about it and enjoying themselves and connecting to the characters than watching something thatâs high budget and ultra-professional but ultimately soulless because itâs pursuing perfectionism over heart and warmth
