The Houston Walk & Mental Health Expo 2017

The Walk for Mental Health Awareness - Houston is all about taking a "Step in the Lime Light" and bringing mental illness center-stage. On Saturday, Oct. 7th, participating individuals, agencies and supporters will gather together at Stude Park in The Heights for the Annual 5K Walk and Mental Health Expo.

2017's word is STAMINA - The ability of an organism to exert itself and remain active for a long period of time, as well as its ability to resist, withstand, recover from, and have immunity to trauma, wounds, or fatigue. The ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort.

Hundreds have contributed to organizations offering mental health services and support to residents of the Greater Houston Area. You can too by registering online -- either individually or as a group.

When the owner of ChiChi L’amour reached out to me for a collaboration, I was instantly drawn into the cause behind this company without even setting my eyes on the beautiful, handcrafted products her company makes with care.

ChiChi L’amour is on a mission to not only dress the heads of those who have a gorgeous mane, but also the heads of those who are less fortunate due to battling illness. For every product sold, the company contributes 5% of the net proceeds towards providing one of their Turbans for Survivors to someone in need. If you’ve witnessed first hand what a traumatizing experience it can be for someone to lose their hair due to illness, you’ll understand why this cause is important. It can help with the restoration of a person’s confidence and to deal with coping just a little better.
