I have no idea if there’s actually gonna be another episode or if they’re just leaving it up to interpretation, but I’m gonna fan the conformity gate flames anyway. I’ve seen a lot of the inconsistencies and Easter eggs already mentioned but I will add some of the things that I noticed for anyone who’s interested to do with as you please:
1. During Hop’s hallucination when El is in the tank, Vecna says that he has “seen into her mind and so I can see into yours” or something along those lines, implying that he can jump between minds using his victim’s connection to others in their life. He used El to get to Hop, so I don’t think it’s that far fetched to assume he could have jumped from Will to Mike (or any of the other Party members).
2. That lab coat guy in the cave in Henry’s memory saying “it consumes all” and the Jonathon’s movie in the epilogue being called The Consumer
3. Now I don’t know anything about DnD apart from a very basic understanding of how the game works, but when Dustin was cornered by Andy and his goons in the cemetery, didn’t Dustin mention something “violet” causes blindness? Well I think it’s a weird coincidence that the song playing during El’s “goodbye” was Purple Rain. Is that alluding to the fact that her goodbye also causes blindness (as in not knowing they are in a different reality, or the whole thing being an illusion)?
4. Nancy specifically not wanting to end up like her mom, in a loveless marriage with kids, but then her and Karen having the exact same haircut in the epilogue.
5. That whole scene in Henry’s memory when they jump from the high school auditorium to the Creel house, when the play advertised is Oklahoma. I’ve never seen Oklahoma and have no idea what it’s about but I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that people in black robes and freaky masks playing ominous drum beats is not a part of that.
6. Also, the play Henry was in was produced by Joyce, and starred Karen, Ted, and Hopper, and it’s just a coincidence that a) none of them remember Henry, and b) Vecna specifically targets their children?
7. In addition to the endings Mike gives the Party at the end of their campaign, Steve, Robin, Nancy, and Jonathon all being how Mike specifically views them in the epilogue. Steve is a womanizer who never leaves his home town (even though he specifically mentioned wanting to settle down with one person), Nancy dropped out of school to become a reporter straight away (even though she’s been talking about Emerson for like 2+ seasons), Jonathon is an edgy alt film maker in New York (even though in season 4 he didn’t want to move too far away from his family), and Robin is dressed in the most feminine clothes I have ever seen her wear and never mentions Vickie (even though her quirky style and her crush on Vickie has been a huge part of her character for the last 2 seasons). I’m not saying that’s why they all got that ending in the epilogue but I’m not not saying it….
8. Throughout the entire season the camera shots in first person are used to show that we’re seeing through someone’s eyes because Vecna is using them as a spy (like how Will sees through Holly’s eyes, and then Derek’s), and then when Mike says he’ll stay behind to keep an eye on Will when Will’s unconscious, it’s shown through a first-person camera shot.
Again, I’m not holding my breath but another episode coming out would make a lot more sense than what we got.
about point 5 - you’re correct. the play is NOT oklahoma, instead it is a play called “the dark of the moon” (it’s all explained in the first shadow) and ik some of the theories are based on lines from the play within a play
Thank you, I hadn’t heard of that before and so I looked it up.
It makes absolutely no sense to me why the understanding of major plot points this season is based on a stage play that isn’t filmed and 95+% of fans will never be able to watch in full, but given the summaries I’ve seen I just have even more questions. So ALL of their parents were in that play with Henry, including Eddie’s dad, and it’s just a coincidence that he later targets all of their kids?
Also, another thought I had: if Brenner’s dad traveled to Dimension X from the Rightside Up, and later Brenner creates a wormhole, why is the exotic matter only in the Upside Down? If the experiments started in the Rightside Up wouldn’t that be where the melted stuff is? *vine voice* I am confusion
