I think both Tim and Two-bit are giddy and horny drunks, but with Two being the only one to really express it while Tim just thinks it. Tim drinks every once in while and when he does its always a lot, while Two drinks almost daily.

Yes, he will take the long way, so they don’t have to go over the train tracks. Yes, he will take the icing off the cake whenever it’s his or anyone else’s turn to make it. Yes, he will jack the truck up to check under it, and pop the hood to inspect it, literally anytime it’s his turn to drive. Yes, he will spend hours repeating himself over and over that he does really love Darry and that doesn’t mean he’s gonna die anytime soon

And yes, it does strain their relationship. And yes, it does exhaust the both of them to no end. And no, he can’t make himself stop it, if he thinks it helps Darry’s spiraling, even just for five minutes at best

On the bright side Two-Bit THINKS he’s helping, Darry’s relief may be brief, but it’s there. It makes Darry tendencies worse overtime, but it takes a while for him to get back to the point he was right after the Curtis parents’ death, but Two-Bit would NOT let it get to that point (if he knew)

Darry wouldn’t tell Two-Bit he relapsed until he can’t clean them himself because his vision is blurry and his hands are shaking so he stumbles over to Two-Bit for help. Two-Bit would know that Darry had harmful tendencies, like picking at his cuticles, scratching his arms, ripping up scabs prematurely, but depending on when Darry had stopped cutting his scars could be faint enough to the point Two-Bit assumes they’re from scratching. (Darry would most likely use his upper thighs because they’d only be visible if he wasn’t wearing anything on his legs)

Are puppy people’s genetics “stronger” (is how I’ll put it for simplicity tho not scientifically valid terminology ok anyways-) than humans? Essentially, was it always a guarantee that Arlo would have been a puppy person too? Or hypothetically, with all human partners, could Darry’s child have ever come out just 100% human? Or maybe instead traits in between fully a puppy person vs distinctly all human?

Yes Puppy genetics are dominant. In DNA, there's information on protein formation and the genes in puppy gamates would have that information, which just overrides anything the human genes would have to say. I'm still researching and thinking about the anatomy but puppy people have a tail, dog ears, Jacobson's organ, a second set of vocal cords and parts of dog brains that's different from the human genes.

It makes me think about the fact that if Darry’s parents weren’t fucking dead, they might have been able to help/give advice enough that Darry might not have been so heavily medicated after 😹😹😹

URGHHHHHHHHHHHH fuck you ngl. But yes, they would've been right there and helping Darry every step of the way, helping their own firstborn with his own. They would probably have a way of soothing him ever since he was little they could use to calm him down too.

But... Mrs Curtis and Darry's stories aren't the same at all.

Mrs Curtis and Mr Curtis were both puppypeople and were able to understand each other better (being able to understand each others physical cues and smelling each other's chemical signals) and probably stayed home for their babies births, meanwhile Darry is a bit of an enigma to Pim-bit, they don't get what his cues mean or are able to smell chemical signals (Jacobson's organ in humans doesn't work, evolved out of its need?) AND they force Darry to go to the hospital (which, everyone should!! if something were to go wrong, hospitals almost always have the resources to help like tools and blood, unlike some fancy facility or home births, it's just a risk that really shouldn't be taken) and in the hospital Darry's overwhelmed by every smell, sound, his more dog instincts kicking in and growling meant the humans in the room helping were off put and told Pim-bit to "control him" (Thank Jaxon for that).

And once Arlo was born, she was whisked away for checks (maybe she wasn't crying- but that's also because as younger pups, they resemble more puppies mind and body wise, and needed stimulation to "wake up" and start breathing which would come from a mother dog licking puppies, which is also to break the amniotic sac but puppypeople are not born in them, yet still need the stimulation of "breaking it" anyway. Puppy people experience "their water breaking" like humans do) so Darry couldn't help her, and was held back while he had to watch his little puppy unmoving with humans who he assumed knew absolutely nothing (They know enough, but like, they're just rubbing the puppy just hoping it works)

overall his pregnancy and birth changed his body, his mind reverting more to the dog instincts and thinking unconsciously, living more on edge than ever before and growling and barking without even realising/thinking about it. As a result of this, Darry was prescribed cannabis (dogs have more cannabinoid receptors in their brains, therefore thc is much stronger for them and TOXIC, but due to being part human as well, while his brain reacts strong to it, he won't die) , because of this he cannot breastfeed (anything you consume when breastfeeding is also transferred to milk, and with weed it can be very very dangerous for newborn), which rips away the bonding that happens from it as well as being uncomfortable to Darry from both the build up and that he still lactates whenever Arlo cries out for food.

AND is forced to have time away from Arlo, as when he's with her too long he regresses further into his "dog mind" and is fiercely protective of her and won't let anyone near. Pim-bit want Darry and Arlo to stay together, but if Darry guards her all alone in his nest (their bed) then he stops eating, and Arlo needs to be fed from a bottle while Darry's nearby so she can smell him, otherwise she refuses to eat, BUT if Darry's growling and backing away from any of them, it seems impossible to try and convince him to feed her with a bottle.

With Mrs and Mr Curtis though.. Darry would view them as most important (what used to be believed as "alpha" of wolf packs, was usually just the oldest wolf) and let them come in his space close enough, and they would be able to sway him unlike his human partners can. (While Soda and Pony are also puppies... they don't live close to pidbit, I can see them being states away, and as well as that, they're "below" Darry's rank in his mind, and he probably snap out of his episode just enough to lock the door if they were to come around, which would just make things 100% worse)
