Hi! Do you have any recommendations on how to get started with the Irish language if you have no experience?
Hi!! Yeah tbh I've never rlly been in the position of trying to learn irish from a pure beginner's perspective cause I've learned it in the irish school system since I was like 5 years old. so I can't really speak from experience in that sort of way ykwim. That said, DCU (Dublin City University) has a free online course (https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/irish-language) for beginners that I've heard is good. In terms of dictionaries, I'd recommend focloir.ie and teanglann.ie for grammar and vocabulary, logainm.ie for place names, and tearma.ie for more niche or technical terminology. If you're willing to invest a bit of money I've found the Gaeilge gan Stró books really helpful, I've never tried the ones targeted at beginners but I'd say they're good as well! The r/gaeilge subreddit has a list of resources as well. Hopefully this is helpful. lmk if you have any other questions or are unsure abt anything I've said!
