Falling up
xxmysteriesxcâ:
Smiling at Chelsea seemed to be Vanessaâs default, but when she actually said the word âhaâ, Vanessa was sure she had a ridiculously bright smile on her face. She wasnât sure what it was, but whatever Chelsea did just seemed like the most adorable thing in the world. She was sure Chelsea could spill an entire jug of coffee over her, and instead of getting mad, sheâd just laugh it off .
âI think Iâd go crazy too. I donât think Iâm anywhere near responsible to run somewhere by myself just now. I can barely remember to do my share of the chores at home. I canât even keep track of whatâs mine and whatâs Tessa and Andiâs. Everything kind of blends into one, because none of us seem capable of keeping track of anything. Luckily I trust them enough not to take anything⌠But Iâm sure you and Mason are the same wayâŚ. Except itâs probably easier to keep track of your clothes.â
Chelsea giggled, shaking her head. âNo, I donât think thereâs much of a chance of Mason stealing my dresses ... not like Iâd judge him for wearing dresses if he wanted to! But, like, he definitely doesnât. Also heâs way taller than me, and, like, more broad-shouldered.â She gestured with her hands to demonstrate. âHeâd, like, have to buy his own. And I wouldnât steal them because theyâd be to big on me.â She shook her head, face heating up a little. âSorry, weird tangent.â
The apology came out as a reflex, even though she didnât really need to do it with Vanessa. She leaned against the counter, sipping at her drink. âWhatâs it like living with two other people? Like, do you get any privacy? It sounds kind of like a lot.â Chelsea spent a lot of time with Mason, but she also got plenty of time to herself, which was good. Sometimes you just needed to curl up for awhile and recharge.
