Chelsea probably shouldn’t have bought the dozen cupcakes. It wasn’t like she made enough to make frivolous purchases for no reason, and as a rule she and Mason wouldn’t eat the whole dozen before they went stale. But they were being freshly made at the cafe now, and by the end of her shift she was all but dying to try one. She promised herself she would only buy one, but it wouldn’t be fair to mason, if she was going to buy two she might as well buy a half dozen, and at that point it was only a dollar more for the whole dozen, so really, what choice did she have.
“Hey, Mason!” She called into the apartment as she entered, balancing the box of cupcakes on one hand. “I’m home, and I brought cupcakes! Too many cupcakes, actually, I think we should have a party. Like, a small party, though, because I only have a dozen and everyone deserves one. Oh! Maybe I can invite Vanessa! And of course I’d invite her roommates, too. And you can invite anyone from your work that you think is cute!” She flushed a bit -- that was a bit blunt, her mouth had gotten away from her brain. She set the box down, giving a sheepish smile. “Uh, hi, by the way.”
