I spent way too much time on this piece, and I really detested painting it. I think I started her three times over, the because the primer wouldn't stick on the resin (you can still see that on some places in the hair and onthe extremities of the leaves), pieces broke of during stripping and handling, there's also not a lot of definition in the sculpt; she very smooth. Which makes looking for color planes a bit more challenging.
Initially I wanted to giver her a some kind of bluish-green glow from below as if were the water reflecting on her skinn, But after years of this bust sitting on my desk, and all the trouble I had with her, I think I'm going to call her done.
I really like how her face turned out though, and the little frog too!
I also got a new macro lens, which allows me to make extreme close-ups! Like real life portraits of the miniatures! I can't get enough of that, it also shows all the brush strokes and textures, so I'll be uploading these pictures in full resolution :)
I still have lots of other mermaids figure I'ld like to paint though, But I'm afraid I won't be finishing these for mermay 2026.
