I'm proud of what I've gotten done thus far on my feywild capital island:)
Playing D&D in the Feywild, a couple of players decided to join the frog aristocracy… and about 10 minutes after getting their titles, they staged a coup. Well, at least they got some loot.
Hags and other Fey creatures in dnd, as they're portrayed in lore, pose a significant game design problem.
They're meant to be annoying, tricksy creatures that like to trick people and have a weird, indecipherable logic. Therefore, the GM who wants to use Fey in their games and abides by this central conceit will be designing encounters that are annoying and indecipherable, leading to players, predictably, not understanding the encounter and getting annoyed.
This is simply Not Fun.
A player has to understand the rules and mechanics of the game they're playing to be able to make meaningful choices and have agency in the game - this is directly at odds with the Fey's weird, indecipherable logic schtick.
Creatures being annoying is not an engaging, novel or funny concept. They are, in fact, just annoying. This is a problem in a game where you're trying to have fun.
What's the fix? Either you make the Fey radically different to their core idea - and if you're doing that, why use the Fey at all? - or you reveal their unique ways so the party knows how to approach their encounters - which removes much of their intrigue.

Finally finished this Unseelie archfey. It took a while to get her colorscheme right. The first time I painted her, the underbelly of the centy pede was of a babypink-grey color, which gave the model a too cold feeling. I quite like the more burgundy tone it has now.
Bibbidi, Vivienne and the other Fairies of Forevermore (a place in my friend's DND feywild that's based on irl fairytales but with a twist) So yes, I called the Fairy Godmother Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo as I thought it was funny but also kinda cool. She has the ability to turn regular halflings into fairies, all presenting a color of the rainbow. Sunny, the yellow bright Fairy in the lineup, mysteriously disappeared one day and is presumed dead. Vivienne Darstadt (my dnd player character in the second artwork) has been speculated to one day get Sunny's wings and replace her. That's the setup quickly explained, I love it sm. Who knows if Viv will earn her wings or ever find out what happened to Sunny. The other fairies have stories too but I won't go into to much detail, just wanted to share this!
