Still no full-time job, but we have internet again which will allow me to seek out freelance stuff like I was doing before. I just want something stable, though.

The IT guy still hasn't hired anyone. I guess I shouldn't hold out hope on that anymore but I could really use the insurance. I've been sick all weekend and would love it if I had easier access to go to the doctor.

No update on the IT job other than that he hasn't hired anyone for it. (The best part about my friend working HR there is that she is the one who runs background checks on candidates and so she knows he hasn't moved forward with anyone.)

The HR job at the same company is a no go. The manager passed me over because of how I did my hair for the interview. I remembered my friend saying she was old-fashioned and would pass on someone for not wearing makeup, so I made sure to wear a dress and makeup. My hair was originally down but wrangling a toddler plus nervousness left me ridiculously sweaty and I had to put my hair up at the last minute. It's still too short for a single ponytail so I put it up into two small buns. Two small "unprofessional" buns according to this manager.

Even her assistant who was also in the interview was upset about that decision; he couldn't remember my hairstyle but told my friend he could tell I was smart from the first questions he asked. In hindsight I recognize that she had shut down immediately; she took a ton of notes from my answers to her assistant's questions but repeatedly refused to ask any of her own, saying we already had a phone interview.

I hope I get hired by IT so I can wear that hairstyle every day to spite her. But in the meantime, it really hurt. Like, maybe if I had used a bunch of bobby pins and put my hair into a ponytail instead, I'd be working today. Maybe for the past 4 months I've narrowly avoided getting what I want/need because of my stupid choices.

As soon as I get a job, I'm getting a semicolon tattoo on the base of my thumb.

Just saying. All the nice comments on my crafty stuff makes me super happy.

The interview for the HR job also went well. It's definitely my second choice and she could very well have more qualified candidates, but hopefully she extends an offer if the IT manager doesn't.

All the other apps I put in are catching up with me and I'm starting to get invites for other interviews. Most of those were desperation applications, which means the jobs are not close or are temporary or don't pay well or have hours that don't fit our schedule, so I'm glad to have those backups but I really hope I don't need them.

I have another interview for an HR position at the same company tomorrow. I had the phone interview last week and figured she went with other candidates, but it's nice to have a backup.

Just a friendly reminder that (almost) none of my crochet stuff is in the etsy store but I still crochet regularly!

Yes, those are cat butt coasters made with cotton yarn and fishing line whiskers. I can make just about anything. 🤷‍♀️

This manager needs to hire with the quickness, so he asked their HR person, who is also my friend. She recommended me when she never recommends anyone, and spoke really highly of me.
