The Honey Pot

I got just enough dirt for the extra tomato plants but I still don’t have supports for them. New neighbor on the swamp milkweed. When I was washing Fafner’s bowls for dinner two cats jumped into our driveway and started making a fresh batch of kittens. I banged on the kitchen window until they left to make their kittens elsewhere. We are a reluctant playground and safe space for nursing families and I provide fresh water every day but we are not a feral hotdog fuck palace. It wasn’t even 5pm.

My first “wildflower” bloomed amongst the pokeweed, poison oak, and ferns. It’s a corn flower (bachelor’s button) which I specifically plant every year in various locations and didn’t think of as a wild flower or a shade flower but okay. I’m super glad you’re here bud!

My dad came to town today to change the front door light. I offered him my very finest eggplant harvest and he rejected it. nobody wants to barter for my crops. I went to four of our local bookstores and made great progress in our indie book tour. I got four books (the fourth was Country People but I immediately gave it to Murble because I read it from the library) . We sampled my first harvest of lemon cucumber (BALLS) . It was good. And then for an early dinner I made sampler plates of our local bakery friend’s bagels/peach muffins/ blueberry scones/ corn cookie/ chocolate cinnamon cheesecake buns and my tomato & cucumbers.

I moved the pallet to the backyard for this season to discourage it becoming Feral hotdog island. Experimenting with grow bags this season and really wanted to do potatoes but DIRT and I don’t think I have good seedlings.

Faf is at camp today, I stopped by the food bank garden to do some work but didn’t have to water because of downpours yesterday. The rain also cleaned the air and cooled us off (for a bit anyway). My tomato hedge is mighty. We have a fresh batch of feral hotdogs and they have the best markings yet.

Babes a plenty

Done I guess but if a feral hotdog had ten seconds with it it would be a ball of yarn again.
