Car line...picking my son up from school. An everyday event for some, but a not so common experience for me. It’s these moments I look forward to. Seeing my son’s excitement and smile that his daddy got to pick him up. I’ve heard sighs and sounds of displeasure from moms when “car line” is brought up, but you won’t hear that from me. Some want relief from car line duties and dads just want to pick up their children. If you want alleviation, then acknowledge us dads as equal parents. Give us these opportunities that we’re constantly seeking after. If these walls could talk, oh the stories that they would share! It’s well over a year now since my new journey started as a man, father, brother, and friend. The things I’ve learned about myself have been quite surprising and exactly what I needed. Sure I’ve already made new mistakes, but it’s all about experiencing this life to the fullest for me right now. It’s been a long time since I fully and truly felt like myself. At times I feel like I’m all the way there, but I still know and see their is so much more room to grow. Both my boys are vacationing with their mommas on opposite ends of the country this week. The time spent alone is good, but their presence, voice, and laughter is greatly missed!
