not my tweet or my fic (and there’s a good chance of this comment being a bot) but yeah, don’t do this. sure, some writers wouldn’t mind having fanfics (or direct continuation) of their fanfics written by someone else. some may even be thrilled and happy. but the fandom etiquette is that if you want to write a fanfic or a continuation of someone’s fanfic, YOU POLITELY ASK THE WRITER FOR THEIR PERMISSION. not their readers.

If you post writing or art, don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t get a lot of notes. Don’t delete it if it doesn’t get a lot of notes. Don’t see it as a reflection of how good you are or take it personally. Don’t feel like you don’t belong in the space, because you do.

My work with most notes? Appy Slices. You wanna know how long it sat after posting before people started discovering it? A WHILE. Some of my favorite writing gets zero attention, and that’s all right! At the end of the day it’s for ME, and somewhere along the way if someone else likes it that’s cool, but it’s still a beautiful flower even if someone doesn’t pick it for their bouquet.

Fandom is also in waves as well. People ride the sea of life, and they might be visiting other waters before diving back in to your fandom. Have patience, and don’t get discouraged.

The Prompt Foundry is kicking off 2026 with Bejeweled January!

From their pure aesthetic appeal, to their long-storied symbology and associations, the science of how they form to the uses their varying physical properties lend them to, and of course the rich and often fraught histories they have across human cultures, there's so much to explore when it comes to gemstones in art.

Some common associations for each stone are included in the prompt list as a jumping off point, but those are hardly the only directions to go. Dust off the Steven Universe, Deltora Quest, or Sailor Moon villains obsession you thought you'd moved on from. Look up crystal structures and refractive indexes. Wax poetic about color variations. Draw, write, paint with stone-based pigments, break out the pliers and blowtorch to craft some jewelry of your own—create in whatever medium you're inspired to!

Feel free to combine different days’ prompts with each other, or combine them with other events like this past year's Genreuary! Use your OCs, your favorite characters from media, your own experiences, whatever tickles your fancy.
