the U.S. holocaust memorial museum has a kickstarter to raise $250K to preserve, catalog, translate, and publish the diaries of holocaust victims and survivors. without exaggeration, we are the last generation who will be able to actually talk face-to-face with survivors, so preserving these diaries is CRUCIAL. with anti-semitism and holocaust denial on the rise, firsthand accounts like these diaries are a powerful thing to have. 

this is the FIRST TIME these diaries will be published online, and there are over 200 of them. more info is on the kickstarter page, including an estimated timeline of their progress and some examples of the stories they have in their possession.

i just got home and saw a message from a mutual i’ve never talked to, about a birthday gift. DONT CLICK ON THE LINK. i haven’t so i don’t know what it does, but i’ve heard it logs you out and sends you to a fake tumblr to take your information. it’s a hack. and it fucks up your computer/laptop/phone/device.

this is what the message looks like, and if you click the link, it sends it to every single one of your mutuals (or possibly ALL THE PEOPLE THAT FOLLOW YOU)

WHOEVER IS MAKING THESE VIRUSES, ARE MAKING NEW ONES THAT SEEM MORE REALISTIC. THEY ARENT USING CAPITALIZATION ANYMORE SO IT LOOKS MORE “REAL” BUT I SWEAR TO YOU ITS FALSE

These spam bots are really trying hard to spread this virus around. Let people know you got this message so they can be safe and change their password and run an anti-virus. 

Anyone can believe in something that is proven true, the dedication of faith requires doubt. I can’t speak for other religions and my understanding of (protestant) christianity is still novice, but battling your doubt is half the battle. Faith would be worth nothing if God could be proven.

I’ve been telling everyone I know for YEARS not to buy Blue Buffalo.

This is the short story:

A few years ago I took my sick cat, Ankh, to the vet. The vet and vet tech asked what I fed her. I told them Blue Buffalo. They looked like I had just told them I fed her razor blades and cyanide. They diagnosed her with pancreatitis and said that nearly all of the cats they’d been seeing lately with pancreatitis were being fed Blue Buffalo.  They gave her medicine and sent her home.  Two days later she had a seizure and died right in my arms. 

The day after she died Hannibal started displaying the same symptoms she had so I panicked hard and took him to the vet.  Got the same meds and the same diagnosis.  Luckily Hannibal survived.

I wish Ankh had survived. She was only ten and the best cat I’ve ever had. Literally the best and five years later I still cry when I think about her.
