trying to talk about iron lung in finnish to my finnish irl friends poses an unexpected problem. see, "a blood ocean" sounds really cool and intimidating, right? but the finnish words for "blood" and "ocean" happen to be just one letter apart, which makes it sound... just super goofy. there's no way to keep it serious while talking about a "verimeri". there's just not. it sounds so silly. oh the poor markie-warkie in his subby-wubby going down into the scary verimeri.
